This parental tool effectively blocks perilous Web sites, though its lack of security is less than desirable.
Sporting an easy-to-use, clear-cut interface, WebBounds helps you to create a list of allowed Web sites that your kids can freely access. During its examination, we were impressed at how quickly the program blocked Web sites that were not in the allowed list. When a desired Web site is not listed, kids can submit a request for approval. You'll be able to review the requested URL and choose whether to approve or deny it. WebBounds also records your kids' activity, including the date and time of visited URLs. You can set up password protection to restrict access to the logs and configurations.
The program only works with Internet Explorer, neglecting popular browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Netscape. Unfortunately, we also were able to easily uninstall the program without the password. Although WebBounds lacks strong defenses, it may be useful to parents of young kids.
Publisher's description
From Resilientware :This easy to use program keeps kids off unwanted sites. Unlike most filters, WebBounds lets parents create an allowed Web site list, so kids only access what parents okay. As your kids get older, unique feature allows them to request certain sites for their parents to review. Parents then can look at the site and approve or deny the request. This is a total-control program for parents. Free 30-day trial.
