Editors' reviewThough well-protected, this program offers only the bare minimum for monitoring PC activities. Web Surfer Watcher just records Web page titles and URL addresses in its main window, which basically is a large, visually unappealing box. Many other similar applications also take screenshots of user activities, block certain Web sites, and log all keystrokes. The program works with only Internet Explorer and AOL, though it lets you block access to other Web browsers should a user try to circumvent the protection. However, Web Surfer Watcher's shortage of features and functionality is somewhat tempered by its high level of protection against users. To view logs, change settings, or uninstall the program, you need the master password. We didn't locate the utility in the Program Files folder nor in the Add/Remove Programs list. Also, although the app can be uncovered via the Task Manager, only the savviest of users will be able to find and disable it. If you're merely concerned with monitoring Web browsing, this program will do, but many other apps boast a much higher level of surveillance.
Record which Web sites have been viewed on your computer. Web Surfer Watcher operates hidden in the background, recording Web site titles and URLs (addresses) of Web sites viewed using Internet Explorer or America Online. The program can record only the titles of Web sites viewed with other Web browsers, such as Netscape. You can configure Web Surfer Watcher either to record this limited information from these browsers, or to block these browsers.
