Automatically retrieve the current conditions, hourly forecast, daily forecast, detailed forecast, severe weather alerts, and weather maps for over 77,000 cities world-wide. Weather Watcher will allow you to automatically retrieve your weather data at a set interval, display the current temperature in a customized tray icon, display the current condition image in a tray icon, designate which weather information is displayed in the Weather Watcher system tray tooltip, convert the weather data using almost any conversion, display a weather map as your desktop wallpaper, log the weather data in any format, export the weather data in any format, customize the look of the Weather Watcher interface and icons via skins.

Version 5.6.13 adds "Do not retrieve weather if screen saver is running" option to the "Auto Update" tab of the Weather Watcher Options window.

This updated weather application offers a smorgasbord of weather-related data. Once you've provided a zip code or city, Weather Watcher's easy-to-use interface displays detailed weather information, including forecasts, temperature, and expected highs and lows. You can add as many locations as you'd like and switch among them using the system-tray icon.

Automatic updates keep you abreast of the current wind speed, dew point, humidity, barometric pressure, and moon phases. You can display your location's current weather conditions by mousing over the temperature readout in your system tray. Weather Watcher provides extensive customizations, measurement conversions, and numerous maps from all over the globe, and a log for quick reference. You can view weather data with hourly and daily forecasts, and create a keyword list to filter severe weather alerts.

The application also features a wallpaper changer for your desktop using several file formats, including JPEG, GIF, BMP, and HTML. Our only serious complaint is its hefty 19MB memory usage. Overall, though, this informative, customizable program can benefit a wide range of users, and it's free to boot. This is a top pick.

  "The best free weather program I have found anywhere"

  Pros: Weather Watcher 1s 100 percent spyware free and very fast at retrieving your local weather. Just type in your zip code and the current temperature is in your system tray. You can also change the font color and background color of the tray icon, add maps, skins, wallpaper, severe alerts, sounds, and other usefull features. If you want the weather forcast, Weather Watcher is for you. 5 stars and two thumbs up!

  "Amazing, greatest weather program ever"

  Pros: This is an amazing and very useful, informative program. Very stable, very easy to work worth. Very fast and easy installation. Very fast at finding and displaying information for anywhere in the world. This is just a program that is worth it, and most of all.. ITS FREE!!

  Cons: Had an error after editing the options for the first time, but never affected anything and never happened again.

  "Very good free tool"

  Pros: I tried this after using weathergopher for a bit, and found this program to have a better interface, better features, and a much smaller memory footprint. It's been pretty accurate with it's local readings, as well. Unobtrusive if you want it to be. Thanks to the author!

  "Small Interface keeps the windows desktop clean."

  Pros: As a computer technician, i can agree with previous people describing the popular weatherbug as spyware. Weatherbug will ruin your comupter in the long run and it greatly slows your computer down. WeatherWAtcher uses minimum memory and lets you tell it when to update. I've been using it for months

  "Great program! Love it!"

  Pros: I've been using Weather Watcher for a couple years now, ever since it was in it's Beta mode and this is the only Weather program I would ever use. Mike, the creator of WW, has always been very helpful and has listened to his user's concerns and ideas, using that feedback to improve his product. Great job Mike!
