This application easily adds complete or password protection to any file. Unfortunately, the password protection is easy to circumvent. Watchman's multipane interface is logically arranged. Columns are easily resized, though you can't sort lists by any method. User guidance is available through simple feature descriptions that link to more detailed explanations.

Watchman's best feature is its effortless task-creation wizard. After clicking on the protection type, you follow a short number of dialogs to create your task. Experienced users can skip the wizard and save a few steps with a single-screen New Task function. Document protection is the most secure feature. You can comfortably choose to block all access of the file, or merely force it to read-only status. With predefined profiles you can quickly set your system to block select applications, including chat clients and Internet browsers. The function also easily blocks new program installation and access to system tools.

The bad news is that it's easy to get past Watchman's password-protection feature. It takes only a few seconds to password protect an executable, but to circumvent the protection you merely need to copy the file and execute the copy. We can't recommend Watchman's password feature, but the rest of the application deserves a test to see if it meets your system-protection needs.
