Faster at any sensitivity, more sensitive at any speed, WU-BLAST is the original BLAST with gapped alignments and statistics, supporting virtually unlimited size sequences, unlimited size databases and more important features for the power user than ever before. Gapped alignments and Sum statistics in all search modes (BLASTP, BLASTN, BLASTX, TBLASTN, TBLASTX), segmented sequences, and much more.

Supports Apple PowerMac G3 processors and threaded searches across multiple processors on dual G4 and G5 systems.

Free license for academic and nonprofit use.

What's new in this version:

  • Improved search speed for large jobs under typical usage, with the default sensitive parameters
  • The gapsepqmax and gapsepsmax parameters are deprecated, being replaced by the hspsepqmax and hspsepsmax parameters, respectively, for use with both ungapped and gapped alignments. (The gapsep* parameters are still recognized and used appropriately for now, but a warning about their use is issued).
