Publisher's description of VirtualDub (32-bit) 1.6.18
From Avery Lee:VirtualDub is a video capture and processing utility licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It is designed to be a general utility that can trim and clean up video before exporting to tape or processing with another program. It does not possess the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files, which you can extend with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is best at processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and handle BMP image sets.

Version: VirtualDub (32-bit) 1.6.18
Pros: If you edit video, you want this. Simple as that.
Cons: The GUI can be difficult. The good part about this is, there are a TON of guides out there for using VirtualDub. Because everyone uses it.

Version: VirtualDub (32-bit) 1.6.18
Pros: This is an awesome program for simple video capture (if you have a dv camcorder) and even though it doesn't say it works with vista - it works with vista! yay! (though the final product won't be altered by this, it's good to have a lot of ram to play videos with vdub. my old computer had 383 megs and it played at like 1 frame per 3 seconds. but, if you don't it won't affect the final product.)

Version: VirtualDub (32-bit) 1.6.18
"Lot of good stuff for free..."
Pros: very good for adding back the brighntess/contrast/deblocking etc. in your video, i used it with divx and it restores the loss in contrast of divx/xvid and gives back the dvd like quality... excellent for filters.
Cons: amateurs will have to play wid it a little to actually know the working, the help file is quite good in doin that

"Great Video Capture Software!"
Pros: I love this program! It makes capturing video from my camcorder extremely easy and it is also FAST!
Cons: The file sizes for AVI files are very large. A 10 minute file takes up about a GIG of space, so have a spare hard drive for videos. Maybe I am missing an option somewhere?

Version: VirtualDub (32-bit) 1.6.18
Pros: Does a good job with editing files. You can easily clip AVI files in mere minutes. You can get rid of subtitles. And of course, you can dub vids...
Cons: It gets kinda complicated when you want to compress videos.
