This simple yet powerful utility behaves like a real audio cable, letting you transfer sound among applications. You can, for example, record sound from a game or from streaming Internet audio, or process the sound from one audio editor to another. The program gives you 64 virtual cables into which you can plug any application, mixing and distributing sound. (However, we should note the demo only will let you access two of them.) It even lets you make chains, connecting a whole series of software synthesizers, sound editors, sequencers, and recorders. To monitor the signal in your virtual cables, the program includes a control panel that displays the sample rate, channels, and number of connected applications. Perfectly designed for professionals, Virtual Audio Cable would be more useful for novices if it had a visual interface showing connected devices.

"One strange response from a commercial product company"

January 13, 2010  |  By rpriyadarshi

 |  Version: Virtual Audio Cable 4.09

Pros

None that I coudld find due to driver signing issue on Windows 7.

Cons

Could not even use it on Windows 7 as driver could not be installed.

Summary

Here is an email communication between the developer and customer where the customer needed help in installation on Windows 7 due to driver signing issues. The developer pretty much tells the customer that he/she is an "a**hole". First time ever from a company who wants to take customers money and sends response like that. Have fun and judge for yourself!

Hello,

Ok, I don't think the discussion will go anywhere as our belief system is different. No offence meant. You must be quite young I think.

Hello [customer name deleted],

There are various kinds of marketing policies. Some product developers promote their products aggressively and sell them overpriced so they fight for every potential customer, offering "highly amiable" services. Some other developers like me don't aggressively promote their products and sell them at reasonable prices so they offer only a support, not a teaching/training.

Ask a similar question to yourself: why should a developer spend time personally answering questions that are already answered in documentation? Why do you consider your time is more valuable than mine? I spent some time developing the product and don't want to spend more time serving users who are too lazy to open the help file and type a word of two in the "search" box. I provide a good and detailed support only for users who experience a real trouble but I don't teach users how to make simplest things.

So much the worse.

Are you planning to read software documentation before contacting a developer?

Here is more fun reply :) Definitily exposes the maturity of the developer!

Definitely. I don't base my work on the "a customer is always right".
I respect my customers but I expect they to respect me.

Yes, I'm young, I'm only 41. :) Please Daddy stop lecturing me.

"great - if you pay"

December 16, 2009  |  By DomLeonard

 |  Version: Virtual Audio Cable 4.09

Pros

does what it says

Cons

Free to try (2-cable trial); $30.00 to buy - misleading time waster

Summary

The quick summary suggests you could do something useful with the trial version. Not so. A voice over of "Trial", ... "Trial" every 10 seconds or so means you can invest your time in downloading and figuring out how to use the software - but only to determine if you wish to buy it. You can't do anything useful with the "two cable trial" version crippleware. Whilst the sofware is great, perhaps the editor was given a full functioning version to review.

"GREAT replacement for recording "stereo mix" on Vista"

September 16, 2008  |  By arpitp25

 |  Version: Virtual Audio Cable 4.09

Pros

Sets up a virtual cable system that will allow you to record the sound coming from your computer. Replaces the "stereo mix"/"wave out"/"What u hear" recording option that computers used to have, but have been removed by comuter companies.

Cons

-A bit difficult to figure out how to use, but definately worth figuring out.
-Not free

Summary

Sucks that Vista/Sony/Audio Card Companies had to remove the feature that the majority of the people use for completely legal reasons.
