"Don't do it!"
Version: Vipre Antivirus 2013 6.1.5493
Pros
Probably pretty good virus protection and notification
Cons
I bought Vipre for a year upon recommendation of my computer-smart son. Until now, I'd used free AVAST and AVG. Vipre was good for almost the end of the year. Then I got a new computer and loaded Vipre to continue my subscription on the new computer. I carefully do not update Itunes because it so often corrupts my music when it automatically updates. Vipre, in its latest version, automaticall updates all the applications on your computer unless you tell it not to. Except it didn't notify me that the latest Vipre update had this capability. Day after day, I'd open ITunes to find Version 11 (which is outright the worst the Apple has done to us PC users) and my music/playlists would be corrupted. Uninstall, reinstall, until my OS so so unstable I had to do a complete reset. Vipre never informed me--I had to figure it out for myself. I've never had a security program that messed with other applications without notifications. I discontinued my subscription.
Summary
Vipre has gotten too big for its britches, assuming 'powers' it shouldn't. If it changes, it should tell its customers, especially if it's going to affect all the programs on its 'protected' comptuters. It didn't and caused me endless problems. The new computer is so corrupted now that it has to be returned for repair/refund because System Restore and System Reset didn't fix it. Vipre is a security system. It shouldn't mess with the programs on my computer. I can and will update my applications as I see fit. It's not within Vipre's authority. I won't buy it or recommend it. In fact, I'll advise others to leave Vipre off their computer unless they want to be totally out of control on what is done to their software.
I forgot to mention one thing about my experience with Vipre: it kept me out of so many websites - websites that I've used for years and are safe. I'd go into Vipre and load that website as safe - the Vipre firewall didn't have to keep me out. But it still wouldn't let me in. I'd have to go into Vipre, disengage firewall, virus protection, internet protection, most protection just to get into a safe website! What a pain in the wazoo. Told me Vipre is being run (or not) by some bots that only respond to some unknown commands that we customers aren't allowed to know or geek-heads who enjoy putting it over on its customers. For a while Vipre was good, good, good or my geek-head son wouln't have recommended it. But it slowly got more and more invasive and 'protective' that it was running my computer, not me. If you want to give control of your computer to Microsoft AND Vipre then get this. Otherwise, leave it alone and let Microsoft do all the damage it can without help from Vipre.

"Junkj software. Leve it alone."
Version: Vipre Antivirus 2013 6.1.5493
Pros
Cute packaging.
Cons
Is not plug and play as advertised. I tried to load it on a 32 bit desktop to no avail. It would load but then I could not surf because the CPU was pegged at 100% all the time. Then I tried to load it on a 64 bit laptop. It would not load and when I tried to reinstall my old security I could not. I kept getting the message I already had security installed. I checked. I didn't. Finally I ended up restoring my laptop to an earlier time to install my security.
Summary
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

"#1 Protection"
Version: Vipre Antivirus 2013 6.1.5493
Pros
-Very fast (Runs in the background using barely any system resources, which is very helpful for those slow systems. It also completes scans very quickly, and with a recent update, it has a Rapid Scan feature.)
-Scans devices when they're connected to the system, either automatically or when prompted.
-A wide range of settings, features and options to configure. (It allows you to block/allow anything; from programs, network ports, directories etc.)
-Price worth every penny. My first purchase was a 1 year subscription, I instantly fell in love with this software. When my subscription ran out, I bought a lifetime subscription. One year later, I still love it.
-Flexible scan options. You can configure it to scan at a certain day and a certain time; whether it be every few minutes, hours, days, weeks or months, you can set it to scan when you want.
-Amazing support. If I ever had problems (which has only been once over the 2 years) their support have always been there to assist you.Cons
Believe it or not, after two years of using this software I have not found any cons.
Summary
Overall I rate this software 10/10. There is no other anti-virus software like this, I feel very confident online to download/browse what I want, without worrying about malware.

"Undetermined"
Version: Vipre Antivirus 2013 6.1.5493
Pros
I remember using this software on a laptop for my boss and it seemed to do anything at all!
Cons
By do anything at all, I mean it was useless. All it did was change registry settings to provide shell protection for obvious outdated virus detection, but other than that it was a waste of time or money.
Summary
I really suspect that the postive ratings I see here are paid to rate favorable because even the language to describe the product is unbelieveable. You can tell because the real user's are using actual language to describe the product and the others are info-mercialized.

"I like it - works well for me"
Version: Vipre Antivirus 2013 6.1.5493
Pros
It's not free :(
Cons
VIPRE is easy to use and comes with free technical support if I ever need it, the other reviews here say the VIPRE support is good too.
Summary
I've used many antivirus products and I like this one.

"Purchased case CNET said its good. Its BAD"
Version: Vipre Antivirus 2013 6.1.5493
Pros
It has a nice blue and white user interface.
Cons
I purchased this on the recommendation of C.NET after AVG screwed up big time. Boy, was that stupid of me to rely on a company that gets paid to push crap. I'm really disappointed in C.NET on recommending this crap. Two examples: 1)MS did 16 security upgrades, and after 5 days? Vipre hasn't done anything to make it work at all- in spite of 3 complaints. 2)Did you know if you go to Vipre's website theres not a single email to contact them with?
Not One.Summary
Order the disk and then glue lead weights around it the outer rim and find the guy on C.NET who recommended it to everyone- and throw it at him as hard as you can. If we can get enough people to beat the tar out of him, JUST MAYBE WE CAN KNOCK SOME SENSE INTO HIM.

"Terrible Software..this junk ripped my computer apart!!"
Version: Vipre Antivirus 2013 6.1.5493
Pros
There aren't any!! NOT ONE!
Cons
I wanted to rate this a zero but couldn't!!! I downloaded this software during Hurricane sandy as a temporary replacement for my norton that had been mistakenly deleted and my disk was boxed up and stored in the attic... After the storm, I put my pc in safe mode and uninstalled the "Vipre" and upon rebooting, 80% of my files were missing or moved around and are hidden or have missing file paths and won't function! I have countless viruses arriving everytime I run Norton on my pc, yet, I barely use my pc because most of my programs and files aren't working or missing, I can't even use my back up data disk for recovery after this software because that doesn't work either. I will have to spend $180.00 to repair my pc and I will NEVER install another one of "Vipre" product NEVER, EVER again!
Summary
Beware of the Vipre... they will likely inject venomous poison into your pc and destroy it! No doubts about it!!!
