Verytools VideoSpirit Pro is a top-notch tool for editing, converting, and creating videos. With simple wizard-based operation and easy track management, VideoSpirit can quickly convert all kinds of files to play on your iPhone or other device. You can even use it to create video productions out of your own files and imagination. VideoSpirit Pro is free to try, but the trial version leaves a watermark on output files. We tried the full version.
VideoSpirit reduces video resolution during editing to maintain an acceptable speed and automatically restores full resolution when you're done, but the installation wizard explains how to change the program's Settings to keep the original resolution while editing. Creating video productions isn't exactly second nature, but VideoSpirit's intuitive interface goes a long way toward making the job as easy as possible, combining a browser-like start button, menu bar, and tabs with a player, settings wizard, and track list in a three-part video production console. We started by selecting the type of video we wanted to create from a drop-down list offering everything from basic file types like AVI and MPEG to entries for specific devices (HD, too). Then it was a simple matter of adding files to icon-coded tracks, including video, audio, images, subtitles, and voiceovers, and dragging each one into place along a uniform timeline in the track list window. Clicking lock icons locks down individual tracks when everything's just right. The preview window is large enough to be useful, too.
VideoSpirit Pro can convert files singly or in batches, and it has useful extras like a video frame grabber, a splitter, and a joiner. But we had the most fun creating videos. The Help file explains each function clearly; we recommend starting with the Pre-Production section, which describes how to add your files to the program's Library Room for easy access. The section entitled Starting a New Movie Project explains how it's done, including the way VideoSpirit saves changes to your Project but leaves your original source files intact. Whether it's fast Flash conversions or the next indie blockbuster, VideoSpirit Pro seems right for the part.

I finally finished my 1st movie "Back to my Childhood" with this product, I'm pleased with the output effect of this software after I joined the musical background and my old family videos, I think it can be considered as amazing stories of my family now, hahahah...lol wut! its crazy!

It's an interesting software, I joined some of my little son's pictures and videos together, also combined with some famous cartoon musicical backgrounds, the output effect was wonderful. I LOVE this product, as it's very easy-to-use, it's quite important for a "ama de casa" like me!

"Good tool for editing family home videos"

I're using VideoSpirit Pro to edit some old family home videos for my grandfather, there're some family home videos from 1980's, I'm glad that this tool can keep the original quality of the video after the editing, and have to say, it's a ease to use tool, personally I think it's a good tool for editing family home videos, at least it's the cheapest one among those good tools.

many text overlay options and effects that you'd want, largely intuitive interface, tool tips everywhere except on the timeline left column.
Clever drag-to-size design for the Title options.
Allows full-screen Preview Window in a variety of resolutions except 5;4, which is what I need.

Convert tab's options are not intuitive. You have to guess how to even open and close.
Does NOT provide the needed full-screen resolution for most flat-panel monitors, so you can edit a screen-recorded video.

Based on the reviews, I downloaded a trial version of Video Spirit Pro. It allows full-screen Preview Window, has all the features I wanted, except one: it won't allow the original resolution, nor 1280 x 1024. Which wrecks it as a program to use to edit fullscreen instructional videos made on the typical 1280 x 1024 (or higher) screen, which is a 5:4 ratio. If the programmers had only allowed for that resolution setting, I'd have bought the software!
UPDATE: I just got an email from verytools telling me they will update the Preview window so it can clearly display a video made in 1280 x 1024 resolution. They have already updated the software to allow Preview in that resolution, but to save on RAMM, they currently don't allow you to preview clearly. So they will update that, too.
Since they don't allow the 5:4, this is the most fuzzy Preview Window of all that I've tested.

I will buy this software once they update it, even though the interface is somewhat obtuse, because I figured out how the interface works. Will come back here to tell you when I know of the update. If this happens, as far as I know this will be the ONLY video editing software on the market, which will allow clear preview. (I also asked the same thing of Deskshare's Video Editor Magic, but as yet have received no response.)
Hope springs eternal, for those of us who make fullscreen instructional videos!
