Version: VideoReDo/QuickEdit 1.7
"Excellent job, for what it does"
Pros: The purpose of this software is to cut out unwanted portions of MPEG files, with the minimum of degradation and the maximum of speed. To allow frame-accurate cutting, it decompresses and recompresses only the partial chunks at the beginning and end of each clip, but copies the whole chunks in between verbatim without degradation. It therefore doesn't allow you to make any changes to the format of the data. It also allows you to join files together, in case you're starting with something that's already in pieces, such as DVD VOB files. One thing it can't do in a single operation is to extract multiple clips to multiple files; you have to do each one individually, since it is optimized for concatenating multiple clips into a single file (as for commercial removal). However, it is very fast to navigate in, and has hotkeys for moving forward and backward through the file at several speeds, including frame by frame, so it's very easy and fast to use.
Cons: I only wish it would do the same thing for DivX/AVI files.

"Inexpensive video editor, very intuitive, works well"
Pros: I've tried numerous editors, and this one does exactly what I wanted - mark sections, cut with frame accuracy, and write the output. It's so simple to use, even someone who can't get the blinking 12:00 off their vcr can be up and editing video files in minutes. Well worth the fifty bucks. Note that this doesnt include a dvd burner, so use a good one.
Cons: Output limited to 30 minutes unless you request a 30 day trial key, which unlocks the output.
