take a few weeks out of your life trying to make renders of mts/m2ts/avchd AND IT CRASHES EVERY WHICH WAY - UGHH

My pc is quad core/8mb/raptors/hd470 never crashes on anything - top notch, but vegas CANNOT handle a handful of hd files, it just can't. checked youtube/google/forums, all said same thing - VERY frustrating aftere trying to make a movie then having it totally crash on all ways of render/produce. ticked off!

It does not work on HD video.
1) I use a Hauppage HD PVR to record HD video. It will not open an .mp4 created with this video.
2) It crashes when opening an M2TS file.Summary
It simply doesn't work. Check Sony's website for build 9.0b. They say they fixed these bugs. They did not.Save your money (I bought this at Fry's). I sent an email to Sony about the issues and have yet to hear back from them.

Relative ease of use out of the box, starightforward design, low learning curve for the basics. Various movie encoding choices.
Cons
I can't play around with the credits as I would like to do, then again, to get into the more intermediate/advanced concepts has a steep learning curve...Wish there was a H264 editing option, iPod/iPhone rendering sticks to iTunes but not to my iPod
Summary
If you're going to invest, get Final Cut Pro or the Adobe series, because in my opinion it can't do that much more than what iMovie or Windows Movie Maker or other free video editing programs can do and then encode on a free encoding software, if I knew what I know now that's how I'd do it for my level of expertise (I'm a total noob)

the ouput is big a HD video with the length of 5 minutes came out with 8GB it's HUGE It's complicated for those who still new in editing video a daily video editor may fully use it in a week but I'm still trying figuring out for most of the it.

After reading reviews (especially of YouTube high quality submitters) I got Vegas Movie Studio Platinum online. Unlike freeware and some other lower priced video editors, Vegas is actually lighter on resources than I expected (especially after trying out Ulead's and half a dozen free to low price alternatives). Add that it now also accepts MJPEG (my favorite video format as it's lossless but not as huge as AVI) I'm very happy that I can use the game recorder with it's MJPEG format and make my own mashups.
This is semi-pro quality software (you'll have to get the mega Vegas software to get pro features. Personally after using this Vegas version I'll go with pro version instead of Adobe Premier, because it's easier to use -- time learning is time wasted and that also has to figured in the overall price of software.
Download it. Try it. See if Vegas Platinum meets your video editing needs (BTW, it's PERFECT for YouTube HD!).
