It's simple and very effective in getting done what one want's to. Unlimited time lime is unique about it. Doesn't eat away so much of your hard drive's space or ram's. Just too good for its prize

You can fiddle with all the effects to make them exactly how you want them. I have been using Sony Vegas for about 2 years now and it has always done the job for absolutely anything. The "Event Pan Crop" tool is very useful. This can also animate.
Cons
Yes it is pretty hard to get used to, but only to begin with. I use this software with great ease now and I'm only 15. As with most Video Editing Software, the rendering takes quite a long time but the outcome is worth it.
Summary
Overall this software is amazing ONCE you have learned how to use all of its features, it is worth getting the trial and getting a feel for it.

It's backed by Sony so you'll get support for this product, and believe me, you'll need it. This program has an extensive library of special effects.
Cons
Some say video editing isn't rocket science, but Sony seems to believe the opposite by making this program one of the most difficult and un-userfriendly programs ever to appear on the planet.
Summary
It's very rare that I will dislike a program so much. At the moment, Sony Vegas Movie Studio ranks as my number 1 least favorite program to use. Instead of providing a user friendly environment for people to use, Sony has gone the opposite direction by making everything you do either a chore, or an adventure in pain and suffering. Want to color correct your white balance? Kiss one-click correction good bye. You'll be opening up loads of menus to do such a simple task, and still wind up with poor results.
Although there are plenty of effects to use, the total absurdity of the many menus you have to use to do even the most simple things will drive you nuts. Those who master this program will undoubtedly have lots to brag about since the difficulty in using this program will equate to it being for "professionals." I don't buy this argument because I used to do video editing as a living. Sony Vegas is in no way, shape, or form professional simply because it is difficult to use.
A very disappointing program from Sony. They need to scrap the whole Vegas Video Studio interface and start over and make it usable for people. Why buy a program if you can't make it work, right? -

It's wonderful. I know 13 year olds that can use it. It has lots of transistions and fun things to use. It will make your videos look like jems.

It's NOT easy at first. But once you figure it out, it's a breeze! It's worth every penny!
Summary
It works just fine on my little Compaq laptop. It has top of the line transistions and effects. If you are tired of WMM and want professional looking videos, Vegas is the way to go. I hated it at first because I just couldn't figure it out but then I sat down one day and looked it over....it's so EASY to use. Some people make it harder than it really is. It's pretty fast. Rendering's good and uploads great HQ videos. And making videos isn't all that time consuming unless you're trying to overload the video with effects. I have also tried Adobe Premier and while it's also a great program, it uses WAY too much hard drive space and editing takes a hella long time. But this....Vegas is perfect. They only people who could hate it are the ones who couldn't figure it out. The editing process is very simple. You drag and drop, snip and snap clips. Adding and clipping music is also a breeze...I could go on for days why Vegas is wonderful but you should try it for yourself.

Cons
The registration process, even for the trial version, is far to slow and complicated. I have used ULead VideoStudio, and it is far easier to install and run than this. Avoid this software like the plague!!

"Difficult w/AVCHD files"

Pretty box. Easy to install.
Cons
After 10 years using Adobe Premiere products, I find Vegas unintuitive, and well difficult. Maybe my 58 year old brain is too old to learn anymore.
