When all you want to do is shrink or expand an image to a specific size, launching an image-editing application such as Adobe Photoshop, or even GIMP, FastStone, or Paint.NET is overkill. Unburdened by all those powerful effects engines, VSO Image Resizer loads quickly and does you the favor of popping open an image-selection window in the process. The nag screen reminding business customers to buy a license does drag you down each time you open, but it's smooth sailing after that.
VSO Image Resizer accepts hand-typed dimensions in pixels or percentages and offers presets from a drop-down list for common sizes. The expanded mode (click "more") includes controls for safeguarding the aspect ratio and quality, and adding a few color-changing effects. Choosing the output destination and whether to resize the original or create a copy are actions you can take from either mode.
Don't expect to see a preview image or an editor for manual resizing. When it's done, it closes. This no-nonsense approach may be too toughened for your tastes if visual scaling is what you're after, and that autoclosing makes it a pain to use for frequent or sequential resizing. However, on balance, VSO Image Resizer is a speedy, no-fuss solution for one-off resizers who know what they want.

Version: VSO Image Resizer 2.0.1.9
"Microsoft came up with this ages ago."
Pros: It is simple and easy to use software.
Cons: Microsoft had this powertoy called image resizer that they made like a few years ago that is still as convenient to me today. All you do is open explorer, select the images you want to resize, right-click, resize images, done. Hassle... -free.
Not saying this is a bad software, but something like this could've been created ages ago.

Version: VSO Image Resizer 2.0.1.9
"Does what Microsoft Couldn't"
Pros: This is great for Vista users since Microsoft neglected to make a Powertoy version of this type of this that works with Vista.
Cons: Not Much, it's pretty cut-and-dry....

"Until Version 2 this was a fantastic add on for Vista"
Pros: Works really well better than the built-in XP resizer.
Cons: Version 2 has a nag screen every time it is used. The product is advertised as free for personal use yet I am nagged to buy a corporate license ever time I use it . I am sticking with Version 1.34
Summary: Use Version 1.34 from this site and you won't be nagged!
