From Visible Progress Technologies :VB Law is a coding standards creation and enforcement tool for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 source code. It consists of a rule editor allowing the creation and maintenance of custom VB6 coding standards and a code review add-in that integrates tightly with the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 IDE allowing detection and correction of coding standards violations. The ability to write custom rules means that automated code reviews can extend well beyond basic coding standards compliance checking to include detection of known issues (that lead to subtle bugs), detection of sub-optimal code likely to impact performance and detection of dead (unused) code. VB Law also reports statistics such as violation counts, line counts (split by type) and code complexity measurements in the form of McCabe Cyclomatic complexity values all of which can assist in measuring and monitoring the progress of software developments.
