From UBCD4Win :UBCD4Win is a bootable "live" CD which contains software that allows you to repair/restore/diagnostic almost any computer problem. All software included in UBCD4Win are freeware utilities for Windows. UBCD4Win is based on Bart's PE. Bart's PE builds a Windows "pre-install" environment CD, basically Windows booted from CD. With network support, the ability to modify NTFS volumes, recover deleted files, create new NTFS volumes, and scan hard drives for viruses. This project includes almost everything you need to repair your system problems.

Pros: It is easy to create the cd. Has many many drivers for networks and HDD. Great Tool for administrators.

"Best all-around diagnostic/repair utility I've used... ever!"
Pros: Allows you to boot an otherwise unbootable Windows computer, diagnose problems such as spyware/adware/viruses and fix them. Amazing quantity of quality tools... for FREE!
Cons: You must read the FAQs and instructions until you familiarize yourself with the system and its tools. Must have a blank CD and a real Windows boot CD.

"Next to Jesus, this will SAVE you PC, as well!!!"
Pros: I have suffered several catostrophic failures. My friends and family have also had several, what at the time seemed to be total disasters relateing to the health of their PC's. UBCD4WIN each and every time came to the rescue. Diagnosed the problem and helped to restore there PC's back to life and normal daily use.
Cons: It is unfortunate that UBCD4win can't read minds and be easier for every new user. Though the Forum is highly responsive with accurate and helpful information. We just have to realize that this software is an act of love by people who really believe that PC health should be free for all of us.

Pros: Free. Lots of useful utilities, none of which I got to use... See Cons.
Cons: Didn't get to use any of it. Downloaded it, ran the installer, all went well until it asked me for my Windows install disc, then it told me that some .DLL file was of the wrong version, and that I had to have Windows XP SP1 of a specific (down to 4 digits) version number or Windows 2000. I have XP, SP1 disc. Installer aborted at that point, so no joy at all. This program listing needs to be modified to list the only specific Windows version number it will work with. Mine was a 2-digit match, but it needed a 4-digit match on the version number. Sure wish I could have installed it, sounds really great.
