"Work's, but has corks for some!"
Version: U.S. Robotics Data/Fax 33.6/56k Modem Driver (4/10/98)
Summary
For those who don't know, "some" out of box PC's have been set up with "named" hardware, but the setup itself is modified to suit the "out of box" assemblers. Example only, NO WAY A PLUG FOR THESE: Gateway, Dell and Compaq. Gateway has 3Com/U.S.Robotic's 56k Win/Voice/Fax/Data modem installed. Say, for some reason you want to run a software like Super Voice or their stock setup MegaPhone. In Short, there is no communication with modem, so it won't set up. You follow all the instructions and end up with an Update needed. So, you find at 3Com.com your ID isn't listed. You try one of these "All in one if you can find me in the list" softwares. FOR SOME this works, but personal experience has shown, it's RARE. The best thing to do is save your pennies and buy a new modem. This way your up to date and don't have to worry about the possible version conflicts and delelted dlls ect... This software DID work for the other PC we use in day to day operations, but for 9 out 11 "Out Of Box" PC's, it did more harm than good. Use at Your Own Risk. (If your not sure how to do software stuff, please have the sense to get Tech Help) Posted by Tech, not Mr. Wizard!

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
Version: U.S. Robotics Data/Fax 33.6/56k Modem Driver (4/10/98)
Summary
Connection speed worse than my original driver. So don't bother unless you have no driver at all for your modem. Updating drivers is not always essential - my experience proves it. If it works okay as it is, leave it be!
