With Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, you need only to provide your e-mail address to activate the full function 30-day free trial.
Once installed, the protection provided by Trend Micro is good. The two-way firewall blocks Internet threats, while scanners remove viruses, spyware, and rootkits. The interface is clean and intuitive, with configuration settings accessible for more advanced users. The suite includes additional tools to identify legitimate Wi-Fi hot spots (Wi-Fi Advisor), parental controls, Internet Web protection, home network protection, and even a system tune-up diagnostic (System Tuner).
Trend Micro provides free telephone, e-mail, and chat technical support, which is important since the online technical support information for Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 is not that good. Not only does Trend Micro lack a Getting Started PDF, but there is no manual and far too few knowledge base articles. Removal is clean: we found no traces of Trend Micro Internet Security on our system after reboot.

Version: Trend Micro Internet Security 2008
Pros: This program is improved over the 2007 version. It's faster, lighter on resources yet has the same, dependable scan engine. It can be purchased very cheap on line which is the very reason I got a copy. The installation went easy for me. The update was smooth also. It detected three threats my other suite missed on the same computer. Although it's my second choice behind "Kaspersky Internet Security", its not a good pick for a home user.
Cons: Personally, I have not had the issues some others have but then I don't use free programs so "who cares about "Spybot S&D" ?

Version: Trend Micro Internet Security 2008
"BEFORE INSTALLING 2008, READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Pros: TM are good products but before downloading 2008 know that it's not compatible w/ Spy Bot, Spyware Blaster or Ad-Aware. Most importantly, there's uninstall issues which their tools presently cannot fix. All the techs I've spoken to seems to be unaware of this issue but I just googled it & found what I've enclosed below. I cant install another firewall nor reinstall the TM suites (or firewall) b/c I can't delete their driver which is under NETWORK adapters. A window comes up & says their product is already installed due to 2 miniport drivers that refuse to delete or uninstall! The techs will tell u to look under NONPLUG & PLAY DEVICES, which is where the older versions were originally installed, & send us tools for removal which don't work! READ THIS....
Cons: a. You must completely uninstall the Immunize feature of Spybot
Search & Destroy before starting to install Trend Micro
Internet Security 2008.
b. Installing the Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 drivers
and starting the services can take more than seven minutes.
c. When upgrading from a Trend Micro Internet Security 2007, you
must upgrade the primary installation of the software first.
--> --> d. Uninstalling Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 and restarting
the computer fails to remove the Trend Micro TMTDI file from
the Windows Device Manager. <-- <--
e. After providing a name, password, email address and location
on the Activate Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 page, the
Next button may not seem to respond immediately when clicked,
although the information has been sent.
f. Upgrades from Trend Micro AntiVirus to Trend Micro Internet
Security 2008 will not work if the original software has a
build number higher than that of the desired software.
(note: c/NET doeswnt allow links 2 be posted but I googled this info under "how to remove trend micro 2008 driver?" then I hit the 1st link that came up, "textaskrá um internet security 2008 readme txt".

Version: Trend Micro Internet Security 2008
Pros: I have been using this for 3 weeks now and have found it to provide good protection of finding threats . If it detects a virus it quarantines it until it's removed from the system . Trend Micro feels confident it can remove most virusus and trojan horses and other malware and had done this. It also offers some good info on joke programs and other malware. The firewall appears to be strong .
Cons: Like most Internet securities the firewall can be a real pain with the pop-ups and I have found that when scanning a file it states that if no threats are found it will close the pop- up and it has done this when there was a virus in a file so i feel I can't trust this to do so if it doesn't directly tell me there's a virus found .

Version: Trend Micro Internet Security 2008
Pros: i have to change my opinion of this company based on recent experience, see below
Cons: PLEASE CHECK OUT TREND MICRO AT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU NATIONAL SITE, AT WWW.U.S.BBB.ORG AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT CNET DOES NOT TELL YOU. THIS COMPANY HAS AN F RATING AT ITS IRVINE ADDRESS AND UNSATISFACTORY AT THE CUPERINO ADDRESS WITH A DETAILED LISTING UNDER THAT ADDRESS OF UNRESOLVED CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. I CHECKED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME A FEW MOMENTS AGO AFTER I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN INSTALLING THIS PRODUCT AFTER PAYING THEM AND HAVING A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE TRYING TO CONTACT THEM. AFTER INSTALLATION, I WOULD CLICK ON ANY ICON OR FOLDER FOR TREND MICRO AND THE PROGRAM WOULD NOT OPEN BUT INSTEAD I WAS SENT TO THEIR WEB SITE AND REQUESTED TO PAY AGAIN AFTER MY CREDIT CARD HAD ALREADY BEEN DEBITED. INSTEAD, I INSTALLED SYMANTEC THE SAME DAY AND IT IS WORKING FINE. I ALSO HAVE SYMANTEC ON MY TWO IMACS INCLUDING A NEW ONE RUNNING ON LEOPARD AND IT DOES FINE. SO MY OPINION IS TOTALLY NEGATIVE NOW ON TREND MICRO AND POSITIVE ON SYMANTEC.
