For a thorough and clear answer to the eternal question of where all the space on your new disk went, consult TreeSize Professional. The first time it launches, the program quickly scans your hard drives and displays the results in a plain but intuitive three-pane interface. Just select a folder in the left-hand file tree, and TreeSize Professional breaks down its space usage into charts and detailed lists. Visual mode lets you choose between pie and bar charts and change colors for better legibility. The Detailed view displays statistics by user and file type. The Top 100 Largest Files tab provides a quick rundown of the biggest space hogs. You can limit the scan to files created in the past however-many days, and save results in XML, HTML, Excel, or a variety of other formats. An optional plug-in integrates the program with Windows Explorer's right-click menu. TreeSize Professional isn't big on charm, but it delivers the functionality system administrators need.

Powerful and flexible harddisk space manager for Windows. For each folder TreeSize Professional shows you the size, allocated and wasted space, number of files, 3D bar and pie charts, the last access date, the file owner, the NTFS compression rate and more information. The results can be printed or exported to Excel, HTML, XML or ASCII. It also lets you search for old, big, temporary, obsolete files. Unicode and Scheduled scans are supported.

Version 4.1 improved multithreaded scanning. Statistics on distribution of file ages. Cutomizable columns in all lsits. Treesize column for Windows Explorer has customizable decimals and unit (KB, MB, GB). Resolved compatibility issues with Windows Vista.

What's new in this version:

• Bugfix: Adding an UNC Path to the list of drives in the TreeSize File Search failed with an error messages.
• Bugfix: Toggling the sort order for the first column in the extensions and users list didn't work.
• Bugfix: Opening certain XML reports failed with an error due to an internal overflow.
• Some minor bugfixes and improvements have been incorporated.
