This handy utility measures basic PC performance by installing a small graph in your system tray. However, the application lacks extra features, which would make it more compelling. After a quick installation, TrayPerf shows up in the system tray to the left of all your active programs. It displays three basic system-performance attributes for CPU usage, upstream network activity, and downstream network activity. You can choose whether you want the information displayed as a bar graph, a histogram, or a combination of the two. You also can configure the colors of each for easier analysis. Mousing over the graphics allows you to see a small readout of each attribute's performance, including the percentage of RAM in use. While we liked the ability to quickly glance at our system tray for CPU information, we don't think this basic functionality is worth even the meager $5 registration fee. Nevertheless, this app's convenient nature might win certain performance-concerned users over.
