This is a solid utility for recording that captures any sound in your system and thus enables you to record, for example, Internet streaming audio as well output of any media player or game. It records into WAV format, but you can plug external MP3 and OGG codecs to save in this format (besides, tags are supported). While recording, you can put flags for later navigation. The utility allows splitting the stream into several files after a time lap, or based on sound level, or when another clip or audio stream begins. Not to get lost in recordings, use advanced naming options that enable you to append artist, current time, and other information to the file name. The scheduler makes Total Recorder perfect for recording Internet transmissions. At the specified time, the program connects to your ISP, tunes into the radio station, records (into several files if necessary), and disconnects. Total Recorder provides basic functionality for sound editing enough to select necessary fragments or split file. Certainly, its functionality doesn t suffice for professional work with sound, but the reasonable price makes the program an alternative to full-blown packages if you only need to record sound.
