Novice-friendly but still robust, this file recovery tool simply performs well. Total Recall Data Recovery's very basic interface is barely more than five buttons and a display window. The program's well-written online Help guide not only explains functions, but also best methods for file recovery.
Total Recall Data Recovery's operation is a mere matter of choosing the file recovery problem. The application separates recovery into file and partition, deleted files, photos, optical, and e-mail. Oddly CD & DVD file recovery options aren't available to test in the demo. Operation is similar for each of the functions. Click the proper icon and follow directions. Not quite a wizard, the functions expect users to make some informed decisions.
Total Recall Data Recovery attempts to read data into memory to create virtual snapshots. That makes manipulating data safer than writing to the problem drive. We liked how well the application explained what it was doing, though some information displays too quickly. The program also remembers stopped scans to restart them later in the session.
Total Recall Data Recovery's drive scans are quick, but less so when scanning solid media such as camera flash cards. Found files are displayed by name and size and can't be opened. Standard image files have an optional thumbnail display which helps choose files to recover. The application will search your drives for Microsoft Outlook and Thunderbird e-mail files and display date, subject, and sender for all emails found. A separate tab lists only deleted e-mails.
As is standard in the genre, file recovery is available only to registered users. Of course, results depend on the state of your media. Still, Total Recall Data Recovery is one of the easier to use recovery applications we've tested, and we recommend it for any user.

Version: Total Recall Data Recovery 1.0.7
Pros: New kid on the block I see.. good price point, seems like a lot of features, I'll have to check this out (but I'm already a happy VirtualLab user), but you can never have too many tools in your utility basket ;-)
Worked as well as the others, and for the price, I think it's an EXCELLENT offer.
