Publisher's Description
From Tiny Software:
Tiny Personal Firewall (TPF) is a powerful and free utility designed to protect home cable and DSL connections. TPF provides multi-layer security protection in controlling which applications are allowed to transmit and receive data, MD5 Signature Support to ensure that Trojan horse applications cannot communicate, stateful filtering based on SRC/DST IP address, port and application to determine if incoming packets were requested, remote access to logs and statistics, and intrusion detection. This build corrects TDI errors.
Tiny Personal Firewall will not function properly if it is installed on a computer using WinRoute or Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing.
For directions on setting up TPF's security options, click here.
Note: This program is free for home users. For business use, Tiny Personal Firewall costs $39.95.

-
"#1 choice for the paranoid user's IT-toolbox!"
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
This nifty application lets you monitor (in detail) the communication between processes running on your PC and the outside world.
And, it has a very nice userinterface!
So if youre wondering if "something" has hijacked you PC, this is it.Cons
I would love something like wireshark (ethereal) integrated with this product, so you can actually rip the contents of a suspicious connection.

"Tried it. Wiped it. A Dirty Program."
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
Very effective firewall. Could be up there with the best except for some MAJOR problems.
Cons
On 3 diffent PC's. Same problems occured.
1. Random shutdowns.
2. C: router problems. Whatever this is.
3. Difficult to learn and somewhat unsupported in the Help regions.Summary
Bug detected in the download, but maybe it was a false positive, or could be the cause of the random shut-downs. Would not install after bug cleaned so reinstated it. Sorry I did.
TPF 6.5 is dangerous on my PC's. Unstable, and too many ***? issues.
Try the TPF2 - 2.0.14 free version (2001 version?). Not too bad and extremely simple, but had one PC randomly shut down within the first few days, but 2 Weeks later, all OK. Has lots of easy to configure stuff too. Not sure yet if it is good, excellent or whatever.
Still can't beat the very annoying but very powerful free Comodo FW for protection -
"what happened"
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
nothing
Cons
it used to be free and good but wow it changed
-
"It Was Good Before"
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
At first it seemed to be a pain. Then I realized that If it seemed irritating, it was because it was doing what it was designed to do.
It worked well for a long time and did a very good job.
Now, there must be holes that a virus can get thru as I've had several that "ride" in on my TPF. Turned off TPF and I haven't had any more problems.
Too bad as it was a nice little product.
Cons
Seems to no longer block the bad stuff.
A bit pricey for what it does.
-
"yes it block, but hill it's suck"

Cons
it's not for regular or advance users,it's only for programmers and hackers.

-
"Useless and irritating"
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
None
Cons
Can't even register or buy it anymore so whats the point?
-
"Decent but not fully functional"
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
This is a small download and I think it still works unsupported.
Cons
you can't access anything on it, it just runs and there are no viruses, if just will make a lousy computer crash, because, its lousy. Completely safe and if you don't believe me scan it! its that easy!
-
"Excellent but requires effort. Sadly, it is virtually unsupported."
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
If you spend the time to learn the full functionality of this product, you will grow to appreciate what makes this firewall powerful in the extreme and be rewarded with excellent intrusion prevention for your Windows or Windows Server run PC.
Cons
Will initially ask permission for everything that happens on your system, which can become annoying even for experienced users. This product is virtually unsupported since the acquisition of Tiny Software by Computer Associates.

"used to be..."
Version: Tiny Personal Firewall 6.5
Pros
used to be a favoriate of mine, but...
Cons
but now with the firewalls built into everything (home routers, norton, xp)I don't find it as useful as it used to be.
