packed with malware

- it got great reviews and no one else seemed to complain of such problems. When installing stuff I am always on the lookout for the boxes I can uncheck to opt out of the extra junk. I don't recall seeing any.

- Malware. And I of course installed it on two computers before realizing it. It wasn't the kind that was simple (add/remove programs) to remove either.

- I never even got around to using it...that is how fast I had to uninstall it. The malware was pretty intense:(

- The client is probably 5 times faster refreshing the screen. I was using RealVNC over a gigabit network and getting really slow refreshes. Switched to TightVNC client on XP and Remoter on iOS to control my Win7 HTPC (old school for sure - but it works just fine). These new clients are both much much much faster than RealVNC. Went ahead and replace RealVNC server with TightVNC server just because. It is solid and fast, too.

- Fairly simple to operate. It has flexible installation process, & allow control over levels of remote viewing as well as remote operations each requiring their passwords. Good features.

- I first got familiar with TightVNC through RealVNC, which was another program, but TightVNC is the open source version. TightVNC gives you a more flexible installation process however where you can install TightVNC as a background Windows service process, or you simply avoid doing that & simply turning on TightVNC when you choose, and let it run that way manually instead of automatically in the background. Tight VNC has made good improvements in delivering features as development progressed. It's fairly simple to set up, and easy to use as I tried other similar programs. TightVNC keeps it convenient. I recommend it to anybody who need to remotely connect to a external computer whether it is fixing somebody's computer, doing work remotely away from your computer "on" your computer, or retrieving files. It's a gem of a program that fills a certain need the best I found.

- 1. Easy to set up. 2. Little latency on local network. 3. Does what it's advertised to do. 4. Handles multiple simultaneous connections with no apparent slowdown.

- Works well on local network. Have not tried it with off-site internet connection, but setup looks like it is relatively easy.

- After downloading latest release from TightVNC web-site it worked immediately and is absolutely brilliant. I am now able to use my old computer without its monitor directly from my new computer as if I was sitting in front of it.

- There is nothing to dislike about this product so far but I have only had it for a few days so perhaps too early to make a judgement.
- Summary
- Not only does it provide control of my old computer so that I can avoid transferring all my data but this wonderful product is free! Thoroughly recommend it.
