From TIFNY :Tifny is an automated interface for the Usenet newsgroups and a thumbnail picture gallery. It lets you download images, text messages, and other file formats, including MP3s, from hundreds of newsgroups. You can view the downloaded files as thumbnails or as full-size images by directory, just like you would with a traditional viewer, or you can sort them by newsgroup, author, organization, date, width, height, size, or other custom selection. You can even add your own pictures to the collection. Tifny lets you filter by author, organization, newsgroup, file series, file type, and keyword as well as by the number of newsgroups to which the article was posted and the size of the file. It also avoids redundant searching and duplicate downloading, saving you time and bandwidth. Other great features include a built-in MP3 player with jukebox, a video player, image editing functions, and a Web browser.
The newest version introduces an improved, more intuitive interface. This program is ad-supported software. You can remove the ad-support by registering the program for $29.95.

It downloads all file types, and even handles multi-segment files. TIFNY learns from past usage, and utilizes that information to quickly and efficiently capture only what you want. It's powerful filtering capability lets you ignore postings based upon author, organization, newsgroup, keywords, file type or size--before you incur the time and expense of downloading them. Header information including file size, dimensions, newsgroup, author, subject, artist, and album is stored in an indexed database for on-line and off-line searching and browsing. TIFNY has an MP3 player with a jukebox, an image viewer with editing functions and a video player. And TIFNY's thumbnailer lets you quickly and efficiently locate images, music, video, and other files by directory, newsgroup, author, date, file type, keyword, or your own custom selections.
