Version: There 2.3
"A user controled world that needs more structure."
Pros: The graphics look very nice. They have almost a "Second Life" feel to them.
The colorful help files answer any questions you might have.
You can earn money doing quests...in theory.
The $10 fee to be a premium member is a one time fee and seems very reasonable.
Cons: I found quite a few glitches and bugs. The one I found the most amusing is the fact I could walk on water.
In order to buy anything you will mostly have to PAY to get it. It's got a confusing 1800 to $1 ratio. Why anyone would want to spend money on Virtual worlds is beyond me. Why not just do a 1 to 1 ratio if your going to do it.
Lack of any guides to help new people understand where everything is will turn off quite a few people. I was walking around for 10 minutes before I started to understand what to do.

Version: There 2.3
Pros: Beautiful metaverse and graphics, great physics...
Cons: Who woulda thunk it? That Second Life, with its cheesy Sims-like look and clunky physics, would wound up besting There, with its fluid graphics and cool look. But there's a reason for that. While SL seems to be this happening, exciting world with lots to do and see, There is a big, huge, empty world where there is nothing much else to do or see once you've explored everywhere and played with all your virtual toys, because nothing new ever happens. I've been visiting There off and on for the past year or so, and there never seems to be enough new activities added to make the place worth going back to, just more varieties of clothes and toys to buy, or more empty lands to traverse. Card, video, and other types of games would do this place wonders, but all this place has is spades.
Another bad thing about There is that it's letting its users and sponsors uglify the one good thing it had going for it, and that is its beautiful graphics. The main home base of There are these islands with a Tiki theme. Thanks to users and certain companies, some of the most beautiful areas of There are cramped with tons of eyesores or stupid giant cars that've ruined its look.
All in all, it wouldn't hurt you to try the program, but for the most part, you'll be bored within weeks. I guarantee it.
