Ultimate Troubleshooter's interface is a little crowded, with the majority of the display taken up by a screen outlining the programs and whether they are a threat. Around this box are several smaller ones, showcasing performance, diagnosing problems, and giving solutions. The main screen can be toggled between different tabs showing the user Tasks, Services, and Startups. Once a user learns what each box does, the program is simple and refreshing. If a problem is found, it goes at the top of the list. By clicking on a problem file or program, a plainspoken diagnosis is given, including (at least on the issues we tested it with) illuminating history, reasons for the occurrence, and what to do to solve the problem. Below this, simple step-by-step instructions tell users how to isolate or eliminate the problem.
You won't be able to see the diagnoses and solution information for all issues with the trial version, which is also limited to 10 uses. You have to purchase the program to access all data. Even so, during our brief glimpse of Ultimate Troubleshooter we found a unique product that helped solve problems by speaking a language every computer user can understand. "No Update for windows 8"

No update and diagnostic is useless.
Summary
This was a good product, used it with Windows 7. Switched to Windows 8 and new computer and will not load. It says to update drivers and links to website, but drivers are not available on website. I assume all are dead at site.

This was a good product that I used for several years.
Cons
I purchased a new computer, tried to reinstall the product to no avail. Contacted them several times but never received a response. If you look at their website, there are no recent dates for anything - no indication for support for Windows 8, etc. and no way to contact them - they simply do not answer. They will take your money but I'm not willing to take the chance that the product is updated for Windows 8 because there is simply no information and there is no one to ask because they don't return emails.
Summary
Can't trust that you will get a product that is up to date and that will be kept updated.

I've used this software for a number of years and initially felt it was very effective at analysing the value of Tasks, Services and Start Ups.
Cons
Unfortunately,support for it has gradually dimished to the point now where it is hardly, if ever updated, despite feeding back previously unrecognised software for review. Emails seeking support are never answered, nor are emails addressed to their 'sales'. I'm afraid they are now taking your money under false pretences.
Summary
SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE STILL BELIEVES IN! THEY HAVE INDEED LOST INTEREST.

I love this program, I can delete and disable things that are bogging down my memory, it's something I use almost daily HOWEVER....
Cons
had to get a new computer and needed my subscription info. Went to website, looked a long, long time to find any contact of any sort, found one email address but no response and can't find again. Clicked option to have info sent to reinstall, link doesn't work, tried it over and over, I'm so angry that there is no contact info, (intentional so you'll just buy another out of frustration??) Also, this year, they automatically took renewal fee out of my bank acct., I didn't sign up for that!?! Also, could never forward questional tasks that is an option on the program, it has never worked for the 5-6 yrs I've had it.tHIS IS NOT A FREE SERVICE, BUT SERVICE IS MISSING.

Originally, I found this program to be invaluable, as it informed me with well-written reports, allowing me to make informed decisions when tweaking my computer (as opposed to letting computer-tuning programs run wild).
I used to LOVE this program, and was a loyal user for many years.

Over time, the advertised updates became sporadic, and are now nil.
Customer support is also nil (my communications them are never answered).
In desperation, I prematurely renewed my subscription (resulting in two concurrent subscriptions) which gave NO benefit, at all!Summary
A pity, but it is now hopeless.

I really DO love this program so much, that I renewed it, when TUT informed me that my original, annual subscription was expired. And I confess, that this was an act of blind devotion!
The Timeline, thus far:
16 June 2012 - I renewed my subscription.
16 June 2012 - I Emailed TUT Central, its list of "Unidentified Tasks".
24 June 2012 - TUT Central updated my installation to "DB Version 22 June 2012" status.
24 June 2012 - I now, no longer have any "Unidentified Tasks".
And this is a great confidence booster, because previously, for several years, TUT Central was not responding to my Emailing its list of "Unidentified Tasks".
I do hereby renounce my preceding, "AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!" heading.

I've been a loyal user of TUT for several years now, and used to find it an excellent source of info and an inspirer of confidence that my system was running reasonably efficiently and was not compromised.
Cons
But that is less and less true. The principal evidence is the ever-increasing number of items which appear with the status "Unknown". My system is reasonably bog-standard, and those items I've added which aren't I know about myself, generally speaking. Also, the recommendations for dealing with some of the hyper-intrusive programs often don't work anymore, or are immediately bypassed by the software house. For example, the instructions for dealing with Adobe Speed Launcher reference Acrobat 7. Acrobat 7 was released in January 2005 - seven years ago.
Summary
TUT gives the impression of a brilliant idea, who's inventor has completely lost interest: he or she is just collecting license fees from an ever-more disappointed clientele. The comments in many other CNET reviews about lack of service support that conclusion. I shan't be renewing by licenses when they expire.

Identifies harmful and unnecessary tasks and gives the ability to handle them appropriately.
Cons
Updates are not as frequent as advertised.I have many unidentifiable tasks from last year that are still not identified,some of which I have had to find my own answers.
Support does not exist at all which is a shame as I will not buy this software again because of the lack of support.
I could not transfer a current version to my new computer so I bought another one and accidently paid for two versions.No answers to any emails so I decided to install the second copy on my kid's pc.The second copy will not update AND of course no answers from the TUT guys after two months of emailing them.Shame on you Answers That Work(should be call "Answers That Never Come".Summary

Cons
The product tells me I need Microsoft MDAC and Jet drivers and to run a Microsoft Update. I have all the latest software and AnswersThatWork has no info and what exactly to download. There is only a 5 execution trial and that's gone. Forget it.
