The author presents The Freeware Book in its own Internet-capable browser, but it remains essentially an HTML-formatted e-book full of links. This is actually more of an e-magazine, with content updates promised on the ninth of every month. The author presents a giant list of sites that offer freeware titles, with capsule reviews of each one. Each site listing notes whether or not it uses pop-up ads or presents shareware, as well as how often the site gets updated. Each edition features a freeware author of the month. When you click a link while connected to the Internet, the program opens the page within its own browser. The browser moves easily among links and renders pages quickly. Because the browser doesn't have access to third-party pop-up blockers, however, it falls prey to any pop-up ads on the external sites. Devotees of freeware may find The Freeware Book valuable for the listings alone.

  "Brilliant piece of brilliantness!!!"

  Pros: This is great, it must list THOUSANDS of sites! I did a download.com search for freeware, now I've got access to more freeware than my computer can hold!

  The freeware book coupled with WinGet is the WAY TO GO!!

  "Contains virus"

  Cons: AVG ( Grisoft Anti-Virus ) reports this software ( both .exe and .zip versions )contains Trojan Horse and sends it to Virus Vault.
