From RitLabs :The Bat is an e-mail application that supports multiple POP3 accounts, multithreading, MIME and UUencode standards, multimedia, APOP authorization, and PGP. It features message notification, message sorting, message templates, and minimization to the system tray. You will also find a fast and comfortable message editor with text highlighting, as well as a mail dispatcher for managing messages on servers. English, Russian, German, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Italian, Lithuanian, and Romanian interfaces are built-in, as is a multilingual spelling checker.
Other features include automatic dial-up networking (which is configurable for multiple accounts), an Account Creation wizard, and the option to include a photo with each address book entry. You can also view HTML messages, use multiple templates as you type a message, exclude certain messages from the MailTicker, and search a folder by typing the first character of its name. There are also enhancements such as message coloring, flagging, advanced filtering, speed improvements, and virus protection.
This program is now invulnerable to current, past, and future LoveLetter virus clones. It does not share the Microsoft Windows Address Book. It has new configurable enhancements to prevent opening of suspicious attachments, unconditionally blocking HAPPY99.EXE and LOVELETTER*.VBS, and features resistance to PIF-viruses, which are gaining popularity.
This latest release inlcudes a host of new features such as a birthday reminder, backup/Restore for editor settings and hot keys, new PGP-VERSION dialogue, improved help buttons, several bug fixes, and much more. For a complete list of updates, please check out the developer's What's New page.
