Publisher's Description
From Richard Koch:
TeXShop is a TeX previewer for Mac OS X, written in Cocoa. Since pdf is a native file format on OS X, TeXShop uses "pdftex" and "pdflatex" rather than "tex" and "latex" to typeset; these programs in the standard teTeX distribution of TeX produce pdf output instead of dvi output.
What's new in this version: Fixes some bugs when running system 10.1, adds the ability to run ConTeXt and MetaPost, allows users to comment out sections of source code, and allows users to open and print dvi, ps, and pdf files.

"Indispensable for me."
Version: TexShop 2.43
Pros
Easy to use and superior to other LaTeX compilers that I have used. The .tex and .pdf files are both on the screen side by side. And it is free!
Cons
None: the latest update removed my sole previous quibble related to using the Find/Replace command..
Summary
It is a gem.

"no frills but everything that is needed"
Version: TexShop 2.38
Pros
it is simple and light, and efficient
Cons
the interface is not of immediate comprehension
-
"Better than Word, rocks for math."
Version: TexShop 2.33
Pros
pdf to tex editor command-click feature is a lifesaver, no unnecessary bells and whistles
Cons
Sometimes the pdf to tex editor command-click feature doesn't work or points to the the wrong document region entirely.
Summary
TexShop hides all the the byzantine tex distributions and packages and lets me typeset easily and effectively.

"Best TeX Editor I have ever used"
Version: TexShop 2.0.9b
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I just finished my diploma thesis using TeXShop and everything just worked perfectly. The only slight problem might be the quite excessive RAM usage (200-400MB here). This was no problem for me but might be for other users.
Nice Work - Thank You very much!!! -
"Incredible tool for copy editors!"
Version: TexShop 2.0.8
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I just started using TexShop today, and I must say that I'm impressed. I'm tasked with copy editing for a large scientific journal. Many of the articles we publish are submitted in TeX format. Until today, we had to submit all rewrites to our typesetter to manually edit. However, TexShop has made it a breeze for me to edit our papers in-house. We're saving thousands of dollars in the process!
Bravo, TexShop developers. Thank you for a great tool! -
"Must try softwar"
Version: TexShop 2.0.8
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
TexShop is a nearly perfect, no-nonsense editor and TeX/LaTeX front end. If you are a beginner with LaTeX, go to the TexShop website and follow the instructions for getting started. TexShop itself is an intuitive text editor that is reasonably well-developed and extremely stable. It is not as adaptable or powerful as WinEdt in the Windows environment, or Emacs in any environment, but it does what it says it will do with a minimum of fuss... and it does it "right out of the box". The program is slowly becoming more sophisticated, but since it is free there is no commerical pressure to quickly add features in order generate upgrade fees. As a result, the program seems to be closer to being bug free than any commercial editors or wordprocessors I've used. Would that all software were as thoughtfully designed and carefully developed! -
"The reason to upgrade to Tiger..."
Version: TexShop 2.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
For me were the Quicksilver and TeXShop updates. Both required Tiger. So I went for it.
QS Labrador isn't that stable yet, though I have pretty much confidence in the developer.
TeXShop 2 is the ultimate Mac OS X Tiger application imho. It's working perfectly well with Spotlight and after having read an article on daringfireball.net, Dictionary is functioning as well. -

"best latex front-end"
Version: TexShop 1.35e
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is the best latex front-end I've had on any platform, and it was invaluable to me when I was writing my book. I'm grateful to Richard Koch for doing it.Does anyone know the reason for the succession of 1.35[abcde] releases over the last few weeks?
