- "More than database tagging"
- Version reviewed: TagScanner 4.9 build 496
Digital music is all well and good, but who wants to type in album and artist information for each track? With the free TagScanner, you don't have to. This efficient and powerful tag editor lets you edit metadata automatically as well as by hand, both for individual files and file batches.
The automatic tagging feature is most impressive. Although it can hit up online databases such as FreeDB, Discogs, and Amazon like many other auto-tagging apps, it can also generate tags from file and folder names--something many others can't. It works in the opposite direction, too, generating filenames from tags.
TagScanner has an elegant and orderly interface, and lets you preview filenames before applying changes. The only catch is that you'll need to spend some time learning the program's file- and tag-naming language. However, if you have thousands of music tracks crying out for organization, that's a small price to pay.

Version: TagScanner 4.9 build 496
Pros: Its free.
Its not terribly hard to learn.
Its fast.
Cons: It requires a lot of time and effort to edit all the tags if you have a large music collection. I personally think iTunes is easier to use and will save time over this program.

Version: TagScanner 4.9 build 496
Pros: Wish I understood it better I want to make a batch edit of title track and comments to make them nothihng.
I like how they uped every first letter on the songs.
Cons: Very confusing sometimes misplaces and messes up your music setup, no select all option. I think MediaMonkey does almost the same thing so I would getthat, wish I knew how to work this better

"Good for managing tags for thousands of files"
Pros: This program is indeed king of mp3 tagging, it supports both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tag formats. It can tag thousands of mp3's all at once by filename, or rename your files all at once based on tag. It can even retrieve the tag for you online. It can generate you an HTML list of your songs together with each song's playing time, and the total playing time of you collection. When it comes to mp3 tagging, this software is king! best of all it's free and clean... no spywares, malwares etc...
Cons: Should have better support for online tag lookup...

Version: TagScanner 4.9 build 496
Pros: WOW! Never have I seen a program that has it all. TagScanner is small, easy to use, very stable, highly functional, creates lists, edits MP3's, and SO MUCH MORE! To top it off, it's FREE. If I were to build one myself, this is what I would build. My hats off to X-Development on a job well done.
Cons: None that I can find

"Did What I Needed, Easy & Fast"
Pros: I was looking for a program to mass edit mp3 id3 tags and TagScanner did it with no problems and fast. I havent used any of the other features but this program is easy to use, and has a great setup.
Cons: At first sight the program is a little confusing. After about 5 minutes of looking around though I found it very very easy to use.
