This newsreader helps you download MP3, text, and image files from Usenet newsgroups. TIFNY will download the entire content of a newsgroup, or you can pick and choose individual posts using the Preview mode. Filters weed out unwanted authors and file types. The interface improves over previous versions, allowing you to resize each panel according to your needs. We wish you could choose not to see icons on the toolbar, and a list of recommended public servers would help beginners get started. Despite the help file, be prepared for a steep learning curve. All told, TIFNY strikes us as a decent choice for a Usenet binary reader.Publisher's description
(From TIFNY ):TIFNY searches your favorite Usenet newsgroups and downloads images, music, video, and other files that interest you. It has extensive filtering and automation features, opens up to 6 simultaneous connections, supports UUencode, Base64, and yEnc formats, and handles multi-segment files. It has a built-in MP3 player, an image viewer, a video player and a thumbnailer to easily browse files by directory, newsgroup, date, file type, and keyword.
Version 5.0.3 corrects to non default port handling and fixes handling of repeated segments.

Version: TIFNY 5.03
Pros: I did like the fact that you didn't have to download every header from every group you subscribe to before you can begin searching headers. That makes it alot faster. It's pretty easy to use, and seems solid enough.
Cons: Doesn't handle large groups too well. after about 10,000 headers, it becomes dog slow. I would have liked to had scroll support when searching headers, and it doesn't do batch downloads. It's an ok program, but I wouldn't spend money on it.
