As with any machine, your PC needs regular tune-ups to maintain peak performance. This virtual toolbox can enhance the speed, safety, and power of your computer with a wide range of functions and an extensive help system.
System Mechanic performs cleanup, optimization, and privacy protection with equal agility. As with similar tune-up utilities, it enables you to clean up your registry, remove junk files, and customize hidden settings to improve performance. The app has additional tools for removing spyware and for defragmenting your hard drive, eliminating the need for multiple utility programs. There is an undo function that restores your system to its previous state, but its hidden in the SafetyNet tab and doesn't allow you to bring back one item at a time. The program also lacks a system profiler.
The bottom line, however, is that System Mechanic is one of the most complete, effective, and easy-to-use tune-up utilities we've seen to date.

Version: System Mechanic 7.0.5
"Beware, the more you use it, the worse it gets!"
Cons: I upgraded to version 7 after a "love-hate"
relationship with version 6. It saved my
computer on a few occasions, but literaly
destroyed it after mutiple uses. I thought
that this new version would be better and it is less "clunky" and appears more streamlined. After 2 uses my machine was
brought to its' knees and crashed. I removed it from my computer in a fruitless attempt to save my machine. I finally had to reformat my drive and start over. You will be better off just using individual
quality utilities like Registry Mechanic,
and other utilities widely available.

Version: System Mechanic 7.0.5
"This version is riddled with flaws. The last version is better"
Pros: If the software is working correctly, It does a fine job
Cons: I have had to unstall this 3 times because sometimes it takes for ever to download updates. when it finally does. it disables the firewall and anti-virus. cant open them and the computer says they are running. now when I try to reinstall the software, it says license number is unvalid. The customer service is lousy. THe e-mail is automated and when they respond to your problem it is a week later with just another question.
