- "A tune-up for your PC"
- Version reviewed: System Mechanic 8.5.6
As with any machine, your PC needs regular tune-ups to maintain peak performance. This virtual toolbox can enhance the speed, safety, and power of your computer with a wide range of functions and an extensive help system.
System Mechanic performs cleanup, optimization, and privacy protection with equal agility. As with similar tune-up utilities, it enables you to clean up your registry, remove junk files, and customize hidden settings to improve performance. The app has additional tools for removing spyware and for defragmenting your hard drive, eliminating the need for multiple utility programs. There is an undo function that restores your system to its previous state, but its hidden in the SafetyNet tab and doesn't allow you to bring back one item at a time. The program also lacks a system profiler.
The bottom line, however, is that System Mechanic is one of the most complete, effective, and easy-to-use tune-up utilities we've seen to date.

Version: System Mechanic 8.5.6
"System Mechanic Pro 8.5.6 has horrible tech & cust svc"
Pros: Has free, very awful technical support, and a lovely box with lots of red coloring to indicate how powerful it is (lol).
Cons: Iolo Technologies has horrible technical support (based in India), and bad customer service to match (based in the U.S.). The so-called features are duplicative in a way that is designed to look more substantive than they are.
Summary: I've been a loyal customer of Iolo 4 many years. I"ve repeatedly purchased their SMPro over the years. The only reason I bought their product was the free phone support. This service has gotten worse in recent yrs. 4 instance, it used 2b based in th... read more >>

"Sped up all 3 of my 3 to 5 year old computers"
Pros: Includes antivirus and a firewall and doesn't bog down my system like McAfee and others have.
Lots of tools included and they work well without making serious mistakes like many other utility programs do.Cons: Annual fee if you want antivirus to stay updated.
You can't edit which problems aren't included in the summary. So on on my PC that physically can't take any more memory, low memory is frequently listed as a problem if I run the analysis.Summary: I have 3 computers over 4 years old and they were getting really slow. One laptop would take so long to boot up that it wasn't worth trying to start it on a 1 hour plane flight. The others booted slowly as well and all were sluggish.

Version: System Mechanic 8.5.6
Pros: i like that it has many useful utilities that make u improve or customize some settings on ur pc
Cons: after version 5 or 6 there are many services and processes running in the background ...also i don't like the "performance status" because it has predefined standards in order to be perfect...i would rather define them myself!

Version: System Mechanic 8.5.6
Pros: Love the interface, lots of options
Cons: after suppossedly cleaning up my internet browsing tracks, whether through power tools or individual tools, they still ramain... and having to "restart" all the time, Boo, buggy, buggy software. Let's hope version 9, soon to be released, cures all...
Summary: I keep going back to it for it's full features, which are outstanding compared to other's, but keep uninstalling because those same said features don't work...
If I ask a program to delete my browsing tracks, I expect it to do just that, which... read more >> -
