Syncman synchronizes your Mac's built-in Address Book with your Gmail Contacts. Syncman offers three different synchronization strategies:

  • Sync Address Book with Gmail Contacts
  • Replace Gmail Contacts with Address Book
  • Replace Address Book with Gmail Contacts
The following contact fields are currently supported:
  • Name, Company, Title & Notes
  • Email Addresses & Phone Numbers
  • IM Accounts (AIM, Jabber, MSN, ICQ & Yahoo)

What's new in this version:

  • Reworked how Syncman interacts with the Keychain. This will hopefully fix some password issues a few users were having. And in any case there is now proper error reporting instead of silently failing when writing to the Keychain fails.
  • Updated automatic updates to be more reliable and secure, and made the automatic update check interval configurable (hourly, daily or weekly).
  • Made the help menu more helpful, especially when running in the menubar.

    "Efficient, simple and effective"

    Pros

    Compact, offers all the contact sync features I need, great at displaying what it's going to do before you commit, can leave it running in menu bar or run once off (as I do).

    Cons

    If you want this app to keep your Google contacts in sync with your MobileMe, you need to keep it running on a server continually.

    Summary

    I use MobileMe as my primary sync mechanism. I haven't used Google contacts as it offers less fields than MobileMe, and it keeps adding "suggested" contacts that I dont want there. I use this program to overwrire and wipe my Google contacts each time it's run wtih my MobileMe set. But it can be used to keep the two sets in sync.
