CNET Editors' review
This straightforward backup utility makes it a snap to safeguard and synchronize your files, and its freeware price just sweetens the deal. Surprisingly flexible for a free program, SyncBack can save your files anywhere: on external hard drives, in ZIP archives, on network drives, on CDs (using UDF), or transfer them via FTP. Recovering from a drive loss is also cinch, with a convenient restore tool that replicates folder trees along with the files in them.
It lets you define multiple scheduled backup jobs so you can just set 'em and forget 'em, allowing users to create specific backup jobs for certain folders or file types. You can control the way files are compared and selected for backup: the program comes with ready-made profiles to make the process as easy as possible. It's hard not to like that SyncBack doesn't use many system resources when working in the background, and backups can be set to export their logs to an HTML file for easy viewing. All in all, it's an excellent choice for home users and small businesses.

Pros
Great software. Cannot believe it is free. I use it to back up photos, music, documents to external USB drive. I have it scheduled to run every night.

Make sure you close all files that are in use before running. Won't copy open files.

"Excellent Data Back-up Product"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.20
Pros
You cannot beat 2BrightSparks SyncBack features:
- Free
- Flexible
- Multi job scheduler
- Numerous but user friendly controls
- Simulated backups
- Backups are saved in their original file formats
- Limited tasking on your computer resourcesCons
The HTML log is not concise, requiring you to search for errors.
This product was designed for data backup, not system restore.Summary
This product has every bell & whistle to back-up, synchronize or any custom combination of the two you want or need. Other products tried before would not work with my FAT32 file system external HDD. After combing the web, I found SyncBack with its 5-star rating from the CNET Editor and users and am extremely happy I downloaded it.
And now on to the not so glorious features...
Be aware of some errors I experienced: file path is too long or apostrophe in file name.
The HTML report log needs to be rethought. It is nice that a report is generated after each scan but not so nice to search page-by-page for critical or non-critical errors every time.
As mentioned in the Cons section above, this product was not meant nor designed for a system file back-up in the event of a total crash. For 100% duplication and assurance I use SyncBack for my data back-up (My Documents and Desktop) along with Macrium Reflect free edition (and its Rescue CD) for my system files. Your decision, but both of these help me sleep better at night. -
"Works great and is fast!"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.20
Pros
It was easy to install and setup. Easy to understand. Did the backup very quickly. I like the simulated run so I could check which items to exclude. It allows multiple backup scripts so you can do different areas each time.
Cons
It can't backup open files. It also doesn't backup registry etc. What is does is COPY the files to the backup drive. THis is great for keeping data safe but you also need a backup program to do your programs, registry etc.
Summary
I really like it. It's a great way to keep copies of all my work without having to figure out if it's been backed up since the last change. I recommend it for anyone who wants to keep a copy of their data up to date and do it easily. No having to figure out what you've copied before so you don't have to do all the files.

"Easy, flawless, comprehensive"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.20
Pros
Feature rich
Great UI
Creates log files
Password protection option
Network drive and removable media awareCons
No gripes.
Summary
Lots of bells and whistles on top of straightforward UI. I am not a techie, but I have used this software to create/schedule backups and create and print the log files of those backups. Includes password protection, backs up across network drives and knows how to handle removable media. Exactly what my small co. needed for our regulatory compliance and what our IT dept was unable to accomplish.

"The Best Sync Back-Up In The Business"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.20
Pros
Back ups / Sync Ups like a traditional Copy and Paste
( You can physical see the Backed Up files so you know they are there.)
(You can set your own "Parameters" and the bottom window tells you EXACTLY what will happen based on the "Parameters")Cons
As previously said the error log report could be better. But if you go thru page by page at least it gives you the file path of the error ......so you can search on the original HDD and amend.
Very long file paths will always cause errors, 255 maxSummary
I Love the fact you can set your own "Parameters" (Called Profiles In This Product)
I Love the ease of use and layout, and the bottom window explaining exactly what will happen according to the "Parameters" set..
I Like that you can Practice and Play with it first, Look at every Tab and options. And get a understanding of how to use it for the best way to Back-Up or Sync Up your stuff................ -
"I <3 Syncback"

Pros

Cons

-
"works fine"
Version: SyncBack Freeware 3.2.20
Pros
Does what it is supposed to do and is easy to configure and use
Cons
At first I did not exactly understand how to configure the backup and so I accidentally overwrote some of my files but that was my user error. So just be careful of exactly what you are doing the first time or do a test first.
Summary
I have only used it twice so far so not much else to say.
