  "Better than Kerio and Zonealarm!!"

  Pros: Does the job very very well.You only have to tell it once to allow,or deny,an application and its job done (unlike Zone Alarm).I used to use ZA but had problems with the latest release,then tried Kerio(which had a great UI)but thats going to be stopped supported at end of 2005.This is powerful and a low source hog.

  Cons: Not TOO easy to get to grips with for a person new to firewallsand i think it slows down your internet a little bit too.

  Version: Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6

  "The best firewall program available, Period!"

  Pros: the program is easy to use, easy to set up and learns very quickly. Lets talk power shall we. I had a series of serious attacks on my system through a hijacked node from my internet provider. Sygate found it when it started, stopped it, tracked it and gave me a full map to report to my cable/internet provider. The tech support at my ISP when first called said that he doubted the attack came through thier node. When I gave him all the addresses and forwarded the info to him, both he and his manager were asking me what tracker program I was using and how could they get it. Sygate comes with similar tools that law enforcement agencies use to track criminal activity on the internet. THis is a VERY powerful and complete firewall program and its free. Much more program than nortons, McAfee or any of the other pay firewalls that I've wasted money on the last two years.

  Cons: Recently, both my ISP (cable internet provider) and WindowsXP Pro security suite has suggested that I remove my firewall because "it causes problems" with service. The only problems I've ever had were the fact that most ISPs try to "sense" you system by sending info to dll's that send info as a reply, not your personal info, but more that just a ping. Windows does the same thing from time to time if you use auto update functions. Sygate Personal Firewall detects this transfer of info quickly and quarantine it momentarily until it varifies the purpose. It will allow the info to go through if you set a rule allowing it, but it will still inform you via pop-up that this is happening. the reason for this, is this transfer of info while in most cases is harmless is exactly the way a hacker might steal info from your system. Hardly a Con in my opinion but when ISP's and Microsoft Windows start detering use of the program it makes you wonder why. I've used sygate for 2 years now.

  "Sygate Personal Firewall"

  Pros: Protects your system from hackers.

  Cons: I prefer ZoneAlarm Pro because of it's easy of use, layout, and security features. The interface on sygate sucks and does not have the great features ZA user such as me enjoy.
