This basic audio utility handles only one job, but since it supports many file formats and doesn't cost a dime, we can forgive its narrow focus. Switch converts audio files among a bevy of different codecs, from well-known ones such as WAV and OGG to lesser-used formats such as GSM.
If you don't already have a particular encoder installed on your PC, the application can download it automatically for you, although this process is somewhat slow. Conversion speeds also were a bit poky, although it's nice you can batch process as many files as you like. Switch lets you configure audio-quality settings for all supported codecs, but don't expect extras such as a ripper, a player, or a burner.
While it's not a work of art, the main interface is quite simple to use, and we're glad to see you can convert files via the right-click menu. Best of all, Switch is nonrestricted freeware, making it easy for us to reccommend this to just about anyone seeking a no-nonsense conversion app.

"an mp3 converter that's simple and actually works"
Pros: I have been looking for a converter like this I have read reviews of other freeware but have never had any luck but switch is the ultimate it works it has a straight forward ui and it is extremely small

Summary: not sure what happened with Dahgda but as it never touches my original files it has not changed them . I usually rip in window loss less but some MP#3 players wont recognize so now I can mass convert as I need them and keep the originals
