Switch is free format converter for audio files. So, for example, if you need to convert a bunch of Windows Media files into .mp3s so you can play them on your iPod, then Switch can help. This application supports conversion from and to a variety of formats, providing input and output for .mp3, .wav, .aif, .ogg, .flac, and more. (Although note that not all formats work both ways, like you cant output .wma or .rm files even though you can open them--and you cant decode any sort of copy-protected file, including aacPlus.) Switch has an easy interface that lets you choose input and output formats and then add files to convert (and even play). Conversion is fairly fast, with Switch automatically downloading additional plugins if necessary. Switch is also available as a Windows application, and this unfortunately shows in some instances, as the help files are not Mac-specific.Publisher's description

Version: Switch Audio Converter 1.52
Pros: What an awesome little program. I was amazed with how straight-forward it was to use - open a folder of music you want converted, tell it what format you want it converted to, choose a place for the newly converted music to go, and hit convert!
Cons: The only downside to this program is that I didn't find it sooner.
Summary: Amazing. I would absolutely recommend this program to anyone who wants to convert those pesky little wma files for use in iTunes, or someone who doesn't have iTunes and wants those m4a files converted to mp3 files. Brilliant!

Version: Switch Audio Converter 1.52
"Hay, The price is right and YES IT DOES WORK!"
Pros: The price. I own an Olympus digital recorder that does not support MAC. My need for a converter is not all that great and I loathe the idea of shelling out fifty bucks for software that I may use only once. Switch works and THE PRICE IS RIGHT.
Cons: Can it be any cheeper than nothing?
Summary: Buy it at your own risk of nothing.

Pros: not sure, nice interface to a program that doesn't really work?
Cons: doesn't do what it says it will do
Summary: Tried to convert flac to mp3, spit out mp3 files that were 4kb in size and obviously unplayable. Still on the hunt for a converter that works...

Pros: Not a thing.
Cons: Did not convert any of my 432 WMA files to MP3. Had to also download something from microsoft on my mac to even attempted to convert. Clicked on help - no help available.
Summary: Don't bother with this software. Will keep looking for something better.

"Noticeable drop in sound quality from wma to mp3"
Pros: converts WMA to MP3
Cons: buggy Mac version. not up-to-date website with wrong download versions advertised. Noticeable drop in quality of audio after conversion (using a very high quality and bit rate setting).
Summary: I'm steering clear and will look for another converter that leaves the sound as good as it found it. I tossed out the few hundred mp3 that I generated and restored the wma files.
