"Not as good or reliable as it used to be"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
Can (supposedly) convert from a wide variety of formats to a wide variety of video and audio formats.
Cons
Download link difficult to find on stupid website.
Installs Babylon language translator, even though I unchecked it.
Fails to convert MP4 video file to anything (reports 'error').Summary
This used to be a damn good program, although always slow to open and a resources hog. The thing is, it always managed to convert files that just about everything else couldn't, so I always used to use it.
I've not done any video conversion for at least a year so downloaded the latest version on my new Windows 7 installation and loaded an MP4 video file in, but it constantly kept stopping and reporting an error, even if I followed the advice given, and even if I changed the output format. So what was once a good program is now junk; it can't convert a format as common as MP4. What makes it worse is it installs a Babylon language translator, even though I had carefully deselected it during installation.
I did some quick research on Google about any highly-rated free audio-video converters and found iWisoft Free Video Converter. Although it lacks many of the fine adjustments of Super, it leaves it standing! It has a basic video editor, plenty of preset levels, and was able to convert the MP4 that Super couldn't, and is less of a resource hog. Also, it was quick, whereas Super was always slow.
I'm about to uninstall Super; I'm finished with it for good. -
"Pretty great for the price"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
A noteworthy selection of formats
FREECons
Little buggy
SlowSummary
I see that other users are complaining of malware but our TMG scanned and found it to be clean. I think what they're calling "malware" are toolbars that, if you're sharp enough to read the things you're clicking on during installation, you can avoid just by unchecking.
I see other saying that you should find something else. Well, I honestly can't find anything else that comes CLOSE to doing what SUPER can while still being free.
Be a smart user and you'll be fine. -
"Malware and dangerous software"

Summary
Super was used to be a good software which get the job done, but this have changed today, the setup files is packed with full with malware. Once installed, it force installed with all type of unwanted toolbar like the babylon toolbar. It automatically install all these uunwanted third party software by force, eventhough it give you a choice on installation but even if you choose not to install it, the setup still install those unwanted 3rd party software. The reason why I describe all those 3rd party softwares as malware because it alter your browser, installing unwanted toolbar & dragging down your computer performance, alter your home page, open up unwanted webpage automatically and etc.
Summary, do not use this software. -

Cons
The soundtrack of my videofilm was not converted because the film remained soundless. To my question about this manco no reply was followed.

"Enjoy, if you want to reinstall Firefox"
Version: Super Video Converter 5.8
Pros
It converts between MANY formats, with MANY options.
Cons
The user interface is contorted. The window always moves back to the middle of the screen. As of 2011, it installs a toolbar with Bing. It doesn't notify you or give you a choice. If you uninstall the toolbar, it will wreck Firefox 3.6 permanently.
Summary
In 2010, it was great. In 2011, it is mild malware - not malicious, but one of those things that inserts hooks into your browser without notifying you. It destroyed my Firefox. I don't yet know if reinstalling Firefox will fix it.
