Although it doesn't really live up to its hyperbolic name, Super Sound Recorder Pro strikes us as pretty decent recording application. The program's colorful interface shouldn't confuse even newbies, as it features prominent icons for the app's most important functions, including record, pause, and play. Below the main control panel you'll find a list of recently recorded files for quick preview access. Clicking the Options button lets you choose between MP3 and WAV output formats and configure audio quality, but you can't record using the space-saving VBR system. And although we appreciate the ability to select from several recording sources and adjust the signal strength, we wish you could tweak the recording level while you were actually capturing sound; as it stands, achieving distortion-free files is a trial-and-error-process. Net radio fans will like the scheduling feature, but those who primarily take memos will long for a voice-activation tool. One of Super Sound Recorder Pro's biggest flaws is its 40-second trial restriction, which makes it tough to use the demo for any serious recording chore. Nevertheless, folks seeking a basic recording program could certainly do worse.Publisher's description
