Publisher's description of Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2.3.912
From Sunbelt Software:Kerio Personal Firewall (KPF) protects PCs from Internet threats. KPF inspects both incoming and outgoing connections ensuring that only legitimate traffic is allowed. MD5 signatures are assigned to all applications to prevent Trojan horses from posing as a trusted application. Kernel monitoring prohibits installation of potentially dangerous kernel drivers that may bypass the firewall inspection. KPF offers a remote administration, logging of suspicious activities, open connections overview and automated update checker.
Version 4.2.3.912 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2.3.912
"Superb firewall, a real bargain"
Pros: After having read a lot about Kerio and receiving the WXP-news in which Sunbelt took over, I decided to try it out. Installation went without problems. Also chose to install Advanced Mode. Very intuitive and user friendly interface. It also comes with predefined rules.
At GRC & others I passed with flying colors. LOL
Used it for one week to see how it would behave on my system ... no problems at all.
Easy to use and for the price of $14.95, I was sold. Don't forget you only renew your license yearly for only $9.95, so that's a BIG bargain for this excellent firewall. :)
If you're looking for good protection, you've to try this one out, whether free or paid.
Well done Sunbelt, so I look forward to the next versions.
Cons: Well, not really negative but I did have to disable the Application Behavior Blocking, because I already use ProcessGuard.

Version: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2.3.912
"Excellent Premium Firewall, No Premium Price"
Pros: After having used just about all the major firewalls, I have come to love this one. It is rather intuitive, and it seems to know what programs to allow without me having to tell it. I have yet to have it tell it to let this or that program through. It isn't bloated like the competition. Symantec and McAfee and ZoneLabs could take notes here, if they were smart. And for $15 to get a full version? That's ridiculously cheap, thus I took advantage of it after trying it for about a month.
Cons: The help files tend to get confusing, and also seem endless. I wonder sometimes if the writer of these files ever took any college level English courses.

Version: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2.3.912
"The features speak for themselves."
Pros: A really solid firewall that is easy to set up and gives plenty of information. The extra features like Behaviour blocking , HIPS and NIPS put this firewall in a class of its own.
Cons: None really ,the only thing that needs improving is the wording of the helpfiles which can be a bit confusing. There is no proper instruction on how to switch from simple to advanced mode.

Version: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.2.3.912
"A waste of a good 3 hours of time"
Pros: The interface is well laid out.
Cons: I have a Win XP with a new Dell Computer. I downloaded Kerio after reading the reviews on it. It worked fine for the first 30 min. or so, and then I noticed that more and more of the websites were being partially deleted due to the privacy portion of the firewall. I had to locate the off button for the privacy section and turn it off, in order to look at the web pages. Reading the help guide on the software was ok, not good, but ok. It leaves many parts off, such as the privacy section. Some portions it explains on what to do and the other parts it leaves up to you to figure out. This area was very confusing and not as easy to work as Zone Alarm.
Also after working with the computer for the 30 min or so, I started checking out some other sites, like Disneyland, etc. and then my whole screen turned blue and gave mumbo jumbo about a memory dump! It requested I reboot or uninstall the recent software installed.
I went back to the reviews of this Kerio firewall software and seen that it does give off BSOD to various computers. After checking this out for approx 3 hrs, and having a crazy time trying to fix the privacy section and getting a BSOD, I removed the software and went back to my Zone Alarm Pro, which I never received a BSOD on ever. Oh well, I just wanted to test the Kerio and did not like the results. The firewall layout was good, except for the logs, which were confusing, unless you reviewed the help guide at the same time. I may try later if the reviews improve.
