SubSpace is an Internet-only game that supports hundreds of players. You can play SubSpace one of two ways: kill for points in any arena as a solo or team player, or play flag games in the war. In this demo, you're limited to three ships, and you won't be able to record your name or score.
New players note: When you execute the game, you will be asked for a login and password. Enter the login and password of your choice. The program will state that the login and password do not exist and will give you the option to register as a new user.

Pros
This is a massively multiplayer 2d spaceship game. It is 10 years old (literally: as I write this review it is November 30, 2007, the game was released November 30, 1997.) I've been playing it since early 1998. There a many different zones with many different types of gameplay which makes the replay value extremely high. There is also very competitive leagues which have also kept me playing for a long time. The game is completely player run and is always being expanded and improved upon. I must warn you: It can be difficult and frustrating at first, but if you give it a real chance then you may end up becoming addicted to it as I have :)

Make our own squad. Join a squad. Play a number of different zones with different rules, shipresets, objectives, etc. I've been an addict for 7+ years, better than any game I paid money for.

Summary
Being an avid Subspace player since it came out years and years ago, the short history is that it is still a free online Asteroids-meets-deathmatch shooter, with plenty of variations. A popular one is "Powerball," which is essentially a soccer game - pass the ball, kill the enemy, and score.
You can check out powerballzon.com for updates on the game, leagues that are player-run, and access our message board. Anyone new to the game that wants some pointers, feel free to drop by.
ALSO, HIGHLY IMPORTANT: The game is now called "Continuum." Since Virgin Interactive Entertainment folded years ago, the game is now fully player run. There are updated clients/program files, and the name is now officially called "Continuum." It can be downloaded for free at powerballzon.com.
The game is incredibly intense and addictive. It takes some getting used to but it's worth. Easily my favorite game of all time. -

This game is amazing. It revolutionalized gaming with a impressive chat interface TODAY (and ss came out about a decade ago) It is very addicting if you give it time. The graphics are old, but when you get in the game and get used to it, you won't be complaining about options. Love this game, will play it forever if I have to host it myself.

One of the best games ever. You can't stop playing. In this game, you meet thousands of new people. There's really nice communities.
You can join squads and duel against other squads in tournaments. Theres events, such as elim. Its awesome. Just play it, and you will find out how GREAT it is. -
