Publisher's description
From Streamripper :StreamRipper allows you to capture audio data being streamed by Shoutcast and other Internet radio broadcast servers that use the MP3 format. StreamRipper captures the actual file-data itself, ensuring a clean recording unhampered by network slowdowns and other tranfer-related problems. You can save each broadcast in MP3 format--complete with any ID3 tags and other file information--as a single file, or command StreamRipper to save each track as a separate MP3 file. This edition of StreamRipper32 offers all the functionality of Streamripper for Winamp, but operates as a standalone application.

Version: StreamRipper32 1.61
Cons: It has no help file that I could find. The controls aren't straight-foreward...and worst of all...IT DIDN'T WORK!!! I spent five minutes trying to get it to do something...anything...and it kept on giving me these nonsense error messages that didn't even come close to describing the problem. Horrible...DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

Version: StreamRipper32 1.61
"This is a bare bones, simple, but effective streaming audio capture program."
Pros: Good documentation. Allows for capture of more then one stream at a time and provides an alternative stream to your PC so you can listen to what your capturing. Seems to work well with streaming audio files assoiciated with winamp.
Cons: Small problems and shortcimgs including: 1. Doesn't seem to work with some stream formats, particularly the standards associated with the real player & windows media player.
2. You have to know the URL of the audio stream you wish to capture to use streamripper. This is not always trivial to find, as some stations use syphisticated techniques to hid it.
3. No GUI, so interface is text based threw a dos prompt. Writing a few simple batch files is a must to mitigate this problem!
4. Sometimes had problem distinguishing between tracks, and sometimes clipped of the begining &/or end of a file.

Version: StreamRipper32 1.61
"Does what it's supposed to... very well"
Pros: It captures the streams and labels them with the artist/title info (if supplied in the stream). You just have to have the URL:port of the stream you want. It's easier to find this out than you may think. A little right-click practice will quickly help you sleuth out this info. Basically, if it streams through Windows Media Player, iTunes, WinAmp or something similar, you should be able to capture it using StreamRipper32.
You can listen to the streams you are recording simply by using WinAmp or similar interface to play the stream. Just paste the URL:port into the player of your choice and voila! I use JetAudio (excellent app, btw).
Cons: This program's main downfall is that it lacks a better interface. Those who are not very computer-savvy will have a difficult time using this program. Fortunately, I am pretty good at figuring things out by trial-and-error.
Documentation would be very helpful, but what do you expect for free? At first, some "User/Agent" error kept popping up, but with some persistence, I was able to figure out that I needed to delete out the pre-filled info under "More Options".
You can't listen to the streams as you are recording them unless you are also listening to it via WinAmp or some other interface.
