CNET Editors' review
A little tab is all that alerts you to StopPop.net, an oddly named Internet Explorer add-on that blocks pop-ups. (Ironically, the program's tiny tab opens in a simple pop-up menu.) Installation is simple, and setup is nonexistent with this utility. Though the newest version of IE includes a pop-up blocker, this tool works on older versions of the popular browser.
You can easily train StopPop.net to allow or block pop-ups. It just takes a couple of clicks as you surf to your favorite sites. Those who plan ahead can simply enter domains either to the program's Block or Allow pop-up lists. The audio included can allow or disallow a sound to play with each blocked pop-up, but the program gives no option to change the sound.
We appreciated that StopPop.net's default setting blocks all domains from displaying pop-ups. However, those users who might desire to change that default are out of luck. You have to disable the program and then re-enable it to add a site to the Block list. Nevertheless, all users of older versions of IE will find that this pop-up blocker works simply--and simply works.
