Version: Starport Galactic Empires 1.24
"Hello space trader, shall we ride the galaxy?"
Pros: It's free but for paypal support you can get extras or can make your life much easier (fe. by buying more fuel for your ship, etc.).
Playing with it is good if that server is just started but you shouldn't join for older servers (check highest rank, 4-5000xp can be earned a day easily with good job so users with 1 million won't be good for you /as for a beginner/).
What you are actually is a space trader, a space taxi driver or a space bounty hunter/thief. You are flying&warping around the sol - or blackhole - systems of the actual universe and buy, sell, produce, invest, etc. You can buy the minerals (metal ore, spice, etc.) cheaper and shell them on a higher price at another star bases. Or you can also jettison (drop) out the cargo, where from Spice you can get fuel. The price is up to your haggle ability but the max is 15%+/-. You can also sell your ship and buy a new one which have 3 main type:
- Taxi types: these should be the bests for trips. Recommended if you want to take passangers with you to a far away station. You can earn a lot by this.
- Cargo-holder types: these aren't so fast but you can allocate more space later for cargos. This is recommended next to good haggle ability.
- Fighter types: these are recommended if you either decide to choose the dark part of the game (steal and shoot down others) or become a bounty-hunter.
Usually all ships have special weapons what you can improve with other weapons, etc.
In one star system you can go onto the planets and kill the aliens there, so you can get a resource and 1-1 xp after each + 10 after all eliminated on a planet. If you ever decide, you can also buy Biodromes to build up your own colony, which can earn you money, build buildings, go military job and research things. In this case, sooner or later you should buy weapons to protect them (usually they are protected for 3 days). If there's no weapon, others can take it or steal the money, etc.
Cons: As older gamers can join the games, they'll win easily. The tutorial gives you basic feedback: however, the tips might improve your knowledge.

Version: Starport Galactic Empires 1.24
Pros: Highly addictive. 2D graphics work well with the gameplay. Helpful and friendly community, willing to help new players. Short download. Be good or evil! Many star systems to explore. Found colonies, steal colonies, launch colonists into space, it's all good. Highly recommended.
Cons: In-game tutorial is short and leaves many things unexplained, but the community is helpful enough to help you out.

"The best free mmo, and one of the best mmo's..."
Pros: I (and many players with me) like the very addictive gameplay, together with the PvP. Yes, it's hardcore player versus player. Ni it's not a fighting game 100%. It involves a lot of strategy and long term reflection. You have to plan ahead. And in a way that's not true. There's two types of servers. Perma's (never-ending servers, each of them quite unique) and rebangs (servers that can last up to 18 days, and the highest ranking players are rewarded with a medal, a status symbol) both have similar gameplay and goals but both are equally accesable.
You can team up in corporations, which is VERY much fun. And you can fight over galactic domination. This isn't like in other mmo's where the devs "create" wars, regions and such to get players to fighting. In SGE you can decide that yourself. And thus an avreage server is filled with politics and intrigue, wars and strive for power.
You might think that this is a hard-ass ommunity, aiming for the demise of their fellow-players.
Big mistake. The community is one of the most open ones around by far. It's possible to encounter the wrong person, but unlikely. Since MANY people are really willing to help you out as new player. And continue to do that, since there's so much to learn.
It seems a simplistic game, but it isn't. You can get to Galactic domination in a lot of ways.
One other thing: There's a really close contact with the devs. They often listen and they tend to tell why they implement certain changes.
Cons: There's a steep learning curve. Although the devs did the effort to implement a tutorial. It's not a kiddy game, be warned.
Thecommunity is dedicated, but this brings with it that some players get upset if the devs change some things. remember, it involves work to build up an Empire. And it's never fun to see your massive creation damaged by outer-game changes. So this tends to get out some rivalry bewteen players. Some that support the devs and others that question their judgement. But this only shows how much there is to care about this game.

"Good Game, But lousy Support"
Pros: very time consuming, can spent hours playing.
Cons: Lost $27.00 of admiral tokens due to a buggy Patch they release, and the GM Toonces played dum with all my reports trying to regain them back.

Version: Starport Galactic Empires 1.24
"distruction with a bit a democracy"
Pros: ive never seen a better 2d game. can be verry hard. expescialy if your low on supplies but you still can just wait it out. you can never run out of things to do. you can wage war an kill them all or build a colony on a planet.
Cons: watch out for the ass holes who just sit there and kill people all day.
