An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and that's especially true when it comes to spyware; wouldn't you rather protect your system than spend hours trying to rid it of malicious visitors? SpywareBlaster is a simple program that provides protection from ActiveX-based software and unwanted cookies for both Firefox and Internet Explorer users.
SpywareBlaster has a simple interface that will be easy for even novices to navigate. The main screen shows the protection status for Internet Explorer, restricted Web sites, and Firefox. By default, protection is disabled for each of these, but you can easily enable ActiveX Protection and Cookie Protection for Internet Explorer, and Cookie Protection for Firefox. The restricted sites option lets you block the actions of known malware sites in Internet Explorer. If there are cookies or sites that you know to be harmless and need access to, an exception list lets you exclude these from being blocked. SpywareBlaster also has a System Snapshot tool that will create a record of your system settings, allowing you to easily restore them if they're altered by spyware. In addition to these tools, SpywareBlaster comes with options that let you adjust various browser settings and block Flash content and downloads entirely if desired. Overall, we found SpywareBlaster to be an easy-to-use tool that provides important protection for people who use Firefox and Internet Explorer.

It dosn't cause ANY kind of complications to My computer. I run Windows 7 Pro,and use 'flashpeak slimbrowser'- Similar to IE 8..

I Dont Think it has detected Any threats,Yet.
Summary
As well as SWB I use malwarebytes Pro AND a VPN system called spotflux.com MAYBE I'm a Bit paranoid Because I picked up some 'ransomeware' purporting to come from the Metropolitan Police ( which almost took 5 years off my life-span..... :(
AND cost me £50 to get removed......... :( The computer engineer who removed it thought I'd been looking at 'child porn' Or something like that,I Think........ WHICH I WASN'T !!
- So I damn well Dont want to get anymore 'ransomeware',esp seeing as I'm only a 'Newbie', and I Cant remove it Myself.. :(
(What I know about 'computer science'/ hardware you could write on the back of a postage stamp....... and still leave room for my name & address )......... By the way,All 3 (+ Microsoft Security Essentials av) work well together And Dont 'clash' Or Slow my computer up,Both whilst surfing the 'net & 'booting-up'......... ( Where did the expression 'booting-up' come about ?? ). -

Its free, not sure if it is actually working.
Cons
Updates are very few, can't really keep up with what's out there if it only updates a couple times a month.

A nice addition to what I already use. Needs to update more often in my opinion.
There hasn't been an update since Feb 1st! This program seems useless, there has to be some update on something. Everything else updates almost daily. I am going to delete the program.

"SpyWareBlaster Slowed my computer/browsers!"

It's free, and I Had been using it for years.
It's passive/preventative, so I don't know if it ever protected me?Cons
-Every time I'd open FireFox/IE9, my HD would clunk & continuously chatter (WD Raptor HD)!?
-Chatter/clunking would be pretty constant, even if no browser activity?
-Sometimes web pages from known sites would fail to load First time/Re-fresh OK?Summary
I tried many things, and finally submitted a Support Ticket to my AV?-
After a thorough system analysis with their tools..., they concluded that SWB was Definitely slowing my computer (conflicts)!
I First Disabled All SWB Protection (per mfg!), and uninstalled it/reboot/Full defrag...
-My system is now "Much" faster, and no more HD Clunking/chatter!
-Other Thoughts- My computer was acting this way Before changing AV's.
If you are experiencing any of my above symptoms, I'd try Disabling SWB Protection/uninstall...? -

Has always performed decently, but no better than other free security software.
Cons
Neither found nor removed Claron Search infection
Summary
I tried all my security software against the Claron-search virus that took over my home page. Tried AVG; Spybot (which was the only one that recognized Claron but didn't remove it completely), Malwarebytes, Hijack this....none worked. Finally had to use system restore. Claron has been out there annoying users for a long time, and no free software seems to be effective.

The free version that I have requires weekly manual updating which can be overlooked. There is no alert system that an update is available.

I really do believe this software helps to keep hackers out, Though i have no real proof.

Even though there isn't any proof that this software keeps hackers out or actually protects the browser, i believe it really does. Since i installed SpywareBlaster i haven't had any browser redirects or page cannot be displayed when i browse the internet. I wish there was some way SpywareBlaster could be added to the browser as an add on so we could really see it blocking things out protecting us. If you use Firefox browser you have to make sure site preferences listed as a feature when you clean browser history isn't checked, If not you lose a lot of protection in SpywareBlaster. I couldn't figure out why every time i cleaned my browser i would open SpywareBlaster and it would say all protection not enabled. You have to make sure site preferences isn't checked.
