The trial version of Spyware Doctor offers solid real-time protection for your system, but without removal capabilities. Users with infected computers will need to purchase a registration code or look elsewhere.
With quick scanning and multiple tools for stopping malware before it infects your computer, the paid version is a solid spyware remover. The well-designed interface makes getting started a breeze. The program can perform a number of scans, including Quick Scan, which blazes through common trouble spots such as Internet Explorer cache files. We found scan times to be fast; even the Full System Scan took under five minutes on our test machine. The app displays scan results clearly, showing file and registry locations, threat level, and a concise description of the threat.
The trial features include real-time protection, a pop-up blocker, a browser monitor, and a key logger guard. The Live Update feature works smoothly, letting you know at start-up if there are significant updates. New features in this latest version include the option to see detailed scan results, spider scanning technology, rootkit scanning, alternate data streams (ADS) threat detection, kernel-level malicious-process detection, and minor enhancements to the graphical user interface. It also has a fairly liberal definition for cookies and other threats, so be sure to examine your results carefully.
The full version is one of the better antispyware tools available, but without the ability to remove threats your computer will remain infected. Although we consider the full Spyware Doctor one of the most effective antimalware apps available, the anemic trialware makes it hard for users to fully realize its potential.

Version: Spyware Doctor 5.1
"a bit disappointed , even if it does the job"
Pros: takes spyware seriously! Once in the system you are free of spyware, trojans..etc etc
Cons: On Vista it takes too much computer resource, and does not like mixing with other application, it would be great togther with a serious antivirus. I was expecting a bit better indeed..

"Don't recommend this, but my friend didn't listen."
Pros: It USED to be an ok product, and it looks very shiny!
Cons: My friend downloaded the free version and couldn't remove any threats? What's the point of that? So we can stare at it and not let it work?
I told him this program was bad when I had it because it is very unstable during scans and sometimes I feel like it removes the WRONG items because they might not even be spyware! He didn't listen, so when I gave it to him (he uses Vista) then he finally tells me that it crashed. I hate I told you so, but I TOLD YOU SO!

"Very good but slow protection"
Pros: Very good protection, easy to use. Install and forget. Good with all protection modules but have a price you don't like.
Cons: Your computer will be slow even if you have a computer with the latest technology.
Internet and some heavy software could be very slow.

Version: Spyware Doctor 5.1
Pros: It's still heavy on resources, slow and gives to many fale positives!
Cons: Worse yet, "PC Tools" have become crooks! Their auto renewal without the consent of the credit card holder should be against the law. They pulled it on me, even though the program had been uninstalled for months. I called support and had to raise hell to get a credit!

"THIS DOCTOR IS OUT!!!! PERMANENTLY"
Cons: This is jokeware - not trialware. An excellent example of software infomercial exccept that extreme scare tactics are used to GET YOU TO BUY IT NOW, OR ELSE----and I guess the or else is that your computer will be eaten by the ladybugs pictured to represent the alleged threats lurking in your laptop. Miles over the top, but I bet someone will buy (literally) into it. De-list this one, folks, and do us all a favor. Please
