Publisher's description of Spyware Doctor 5
From PC Tools:Spyware Doctor is a spyware remover and provides real-time anti-spyware protection against spyware, adware, Trojan horses, keyloggers, spyware cookies, adbots, spybots, browser hijackers, phishing attacks and other malware threats. Additionally it actively protects web browsing using Internet Explorer with a built-in popup blocker and malicious site guard. Spyware Doctor is easy to use and low on PC resources and its scanning speed is delivered by multiple specialized scanners. Almost any function of Spyware Doctor can be updated through the Live Update process. The OnGuard feature is designed to provide real time protection and deploys several tools that actively monitor and protect the PC from spyware attacks.
Version 4 adds an Instant Messenger (IM) Guard Tool to the OnGuard real-time protection. It also features a new ability to remove challenging new threats designed to elude elimination. The new version includes the option of creating a Windows System Restore point prior to threat removal.
Note: This time-unlimited trial version does not remove existing threats during scans, but real-time detection and removal of incoming threats is enabled.

Version: Spyware Doctor 5
Pros: Spyware doctor will provide you with the best protection against infections, in my opinion. I know many of you are upset that Spyware doctor will not remove any infections in the free trial. But all the infections it finds in the scan are legit. Spyware Doctor did not give me any false positives, I just did a two hour test on this subject. I have the registered version on my C drive, all 6517 signatures and updates and it found 5 tracking cookies on my partitioned hard drive with a full system scan, I did not remove them. I then downloaded the trial version (that some reviewers say gives false positives) on my F drive and did a full system scan, and the trial version found the exact same 5 tracking cookies. So this proves Spyware Doctor does not give false positives!
Cons: It is a bit of a ram hog. If you have 256 MB of memory or less, it will slow your pc to a crawl. During it's scan you will not have enough ram left to run any other programs. It's best to let it scan while you are sleeping, and then remove the spyware when you wake up.

Version: Spyware Doctor 5
"Dont know why this has so much downloads"
Pros: Yeah its good, blocks sites which are harmful and detects some spyware that ad aware cannot. Ad aware and Spyware Doctor goes good together like Ad aware and SpyBot SD.
Cons: Ram Hogger, slow start up and the trial is only for scanning. I wished they at least tried to fix how much ram it hogs but they failed once again....
All my other products like Zonealarm security Suite, Ad aware - Ad watch and AVG start up really quick while I have to wait for this damn thing to load up after 1minute later....

Version: Spyware Doctor 5
"Good, solid program, but cons you big time into purchasing it."
Pros: Nice looking interface with plenty of features! Efficiant protection against spyware. Fast system scan and will pick up things even Ad-Aware didn't.
Cons: The trial version only allows you to scan. If anything was detected (wich there will be because it will perpously picks up things you don't have in your system so you will purchase it.)it will not remove it until you purchase the product. When Spyware Doctor is running when you log off, your pc won;t log off. It will just stay there.

Version: Spyware Doctor 5
"You must get license in order to test it. And this is wrong!"
Pros: Good detection engine; it found a couple of problems even after AdAware Pro cleaned up my system.
Cons: Although it's good at detecting problems, it will NOT fix them unless you buy the license.
This makes me suspicious, are there any problems left or it will show you anything just for you to buy it?
You can find freeware apps that will happily do the job free of charge: AdAware, Windows Defender, Spybot S&D just to name a few.

Version: Spyware Doctor 5
Pros: ...seem to be worked out when I re-installed so I was able to test it out. Offers a lot of different protection with the aid of plug-ins. Cookie shield works great and does not block sign-in cookies. Lots of browser and messenger protections. The shield uses more ram than AntiVir's shield but does not slow down my 256MB except when scanning. Over-all, a very good a/s-app. and very configurable.
Cons: (I have a license for this so I not sure how the trial version compares) Ram hog when scanning and slow up-dating but no other problems. I use SuperAntiSpyware for regular scanning since it's easy on ram and SD for real-time protection. I had conflict-issues when I used this before, and I'm not sure if PC Tools fixed it or getting rid of BitDefender solved the problem, but I have 8 security apps now with no conflicts!
