Spotflux is a free encrypted VPN client that routes your Internet traffic through a series of secure servers that mask your actual IP and make it virtually impossible to trace the connection back to your computer. Unlike some VPN clients, Spotflux is easy enough for anyone to use.
Spotflux has a unique Setup wizard that offers more options than most installers, including extra software we declined to install. The first thing Spotflux did when it launched was to secure our Internet connection by changing our settings to conform to the secure network's servers. Our browser opened with our secure connection (you can change that option in the program's Settings) but it took a few reloads before we could load any Web page; in fact, we had to close Spotflux and reopen it to access Web pages with our default browser, Chrome. It's almost impossible for an Internet connection routed through multiple secure VPN servers to be as fast as your normal broadband connection, and we noticed a bit of a lag in our browsing with Spotflux activated, though it's not really a concern since even our slowest sites loaded quickly enough -- certainly fast enough that we didn't think about disabling Spotflux right away, as has so often been the case with secure VPN clients. A system-tray icon let us check Spotflux's status at any time simply by hovering the cursor; right-clicking produced a menu that let us disable Spotflux's secure connection, access the program's Settings, and Quit the program. The Settings are basic but useful, such as languages, startup behavior, and proxies. Spotflux doesn't have a Help file in the usual sense, but the program is so easy to use, and a Support tab on the Settings dialog generates Support Bundles.
Securing your Internet connection helps protect your privacy and anonymity, and it blocks Web trackers and those all-too-personalized ads, too. It even protects against infected Web sites. Spotflux made all that as easy as any tool we've tried, and it doesn't slow your browsing enough to make you want to quit it.

"MUCH Better than Hotspotshield!!"

Pros
When my friend told me about spotflux I didn't believe it was true but in fact they are a much better alternative to hotspotshield and I've since completely uninstalled HSS thanks to them. The speeds on spotflux are much better, the overall experience is better and it does not behave like malware unlike hotspot!

Not a lot of options out there for accessing blocked sites. Many of the competitors put all sorts of junk on your computer when you install but spotflux seamed to be a pretty clean install. My connection speed was much faster than the hotspotshield tool i tried before trying spotflux and it definitely will be useful for me. If you need to unblock facebook or other sites from your school I'd recommend this!

IP search did not return my own pc

Some pages loaded without styles! All page requests went to "http://s3.buysellads.com" prior to opening the requested page and some type of ad-placing javascript is added to the bottom of every opened page including this review page. I also found many pages in History that I didn't open, most are on my PC. I'm no programmer so I have no idea what they may be reading or placing on my computer. Their website says: "Enjoy clean ad-free browsing without tracking or targeted advertisements" so what's the deal with the link to buysellads.com?
Summary
"Private" browsing may just be a ruse for data mining or finding ad targets. I'm dumping this program NOW!

Sometimes it doesn't seem to mask properly. I tested it using a website that used IP address to identify a computer instead of a login. It recognized mine 70% of the time.

The software is useless to access and download email, which Outlook 2010 and all programs are prohibited to access. The company says: "The reason why email cannot be sent is because we have blocked port 25 and any SMTP server access. This is done to prevent abuse on our services and to prevent spam." Well, what's the use if we have to endlessly disconnect, reconnect, throughout the day when we want to continuously update our emails accounts? Now I am back using the excellent Tor Browser.
