In the event that you forget one of your many usernames and passwords, SpotAuditor offers the capability to retrieve that information. But an extremely vague user interface and a trial restriction gave us very little to work with during our tests.

The program's user interface seems simple enough at first glance, but further inspection revealed very little direction. Commands and menu options reside at the top of the window, and three sections below are reserved for configuring the audit information. Not knowing where to go first, we clicked the Start Audit button to see what would happen. The program generated URLs for only a few Web sites, and couple of those were unknown to us. Our user data was revealed, but the password data is not revealed in the trial version. We paid a visit to the built-in Help menu to try and figure out how to configure the Host Audit Information and Authorization Mode sections, but it was just as vague as the rest of the program. Novice users will be lost with this program, and even more experienced users might not get answers if they have questions.

Although there is a link that takes you to an FAQ on the publisher's Web site, it only dealt with registration information. On top of the trial restriction, you only have 15 days to give the program a try, but recommend that you use that time to look for a more functional and better designed password recovery program.

SpotAuditor recovers passwords saved in over 35 programs, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Outlook Express, MSN messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Messenger, Google Talk ( GTalk ), Google Desktop, Trillian, Miranda IM, ICQ, VNC, WinProxy, Dial up, RAS, VPN, RDP, &RQ, Camfrog Video Chat, Easy Web Cam, Total Commander (Windows Commander), Far, SmartFTP, WS_FTP, FFFtp, CuteFTP, File Zilla, FlashFXP, SecureFX, WebDrive, FTP Voyager, CoffeeCup Direct FTP, AutoFTP, CoreFTP, FTP Control, FTP Navigator and 32bit FTP. The software reveals IE Auto Complete passwords and uncovers passwords stored behind the asterisks (*****). SpotAuditor retrieves Visited URLs, Installed Programs and Start Run Programs from local or remote computers. You can save retrived information and passwords as Tab Delimited Txt File (.txt), CSV Comma Delimited (.csv), Excel Workbook (.xls), Access Database (.mdb), Web Page (.html) or XML Data (.xml) file, print or copy to clipboard.
